Gwen Stefani‘s in Cannes for a few reasons—sun, food, family fun—but the pop icon’s first order of business was shooting her third and latest commercial for L’Oreal.  Yesterday, she spent twelve hours filming on a yacht, in a villa, and against an eternity pool (she swears she only got tired around hour 10). The campaign won’t debut until September (when No Doubt’s new album hits shelves), but she did offer one great hint after lunch this afternoon when I mentioned ELLE’s May cover. Though no one does a red lip quite like Gwen, the nude she wore on the cover was a big hit in our office—as well as L’Oreal’s. She said, “That’s what L’Oreal was really inspired by!  We wanted that look for the commercial so we did a version of that—with the hair. I loved that hair; I was always very much into Bewitched and a Samantha look.”

As for tonight’s look, when she heads to Hotel du Cap for the annual AmFar gala, she’ll be wearing a dress of her own design. “I haven’t made very many couture gowns—it’s a big process and a lot of work and it’s a lot of pressure because there are so many beautiful gowns out there that I could wear, but I really wanted to make something with L.A.M.B. because I really wanted to auction it off,” Stefani said. Check back Monday for our full report from Cannes!

Last night, to commemorate the opening of a new Hugo store in Soho, Hugo Boss made a generous contribution to the Guggenheim’s acquisitions fund, threw a party and invited some of our favorite celebs. Paul Sevigny DJ’d in the back of the store while his sister Chloë hung out in the front wearing Hugo and Chloë Sevigny X Opening Ceremony shoes (with socks, of course).

Oh, Ashton Kutcher, why have we forsaken you? The brown-eyed, brown-haired looker has been off of our minds for a while (he is married, after all), but his new role on Two and a Half Men has got us wondering why we’ve been forgetting about this cutie! Remember when we were all Ashton-Kutcher obsessed? He played the dumb but adorable Michael Kelso on That 70’s Show and graced magazine cover after magazine cover with that goofy smile of his (not to mention rock hard abs). Then, we fell even harder for his hilarious antics when he started pranking other celebs on Punk’d. Since becoming a married man, Kutcher’s been out of the limelight, playing devoted hubbie and step dad (sigh). Thankfully, the hottie will be coming back into our lives on a weekly basis as Charlie Sheen’s replacement on the now infamous sitcom Two and a Half Men. Now that’s an improvement! Ashton said he felt like he won the lottery with the role, and that it’s the best job in show business. He tweeted this pic of him and his castmates yesterday, and it looks like they’re having a blast. Well, Ashton, we couldn’t be happier for you!

A Judith Leiber clutch is the ne plus ultra of the handbag world. Like a piece of art, it remains a historic, exquisitely crafted and timeless accessory toted by dowager dames and influentials like Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Taylor and Nancy Reagan.

Photo: Getty Images We’ve seen many a ’90s trend make a comeback: acid-wash jeans, denim cut-offs, leggings…even overalls! Some trends, thankfully, have not returned on the style scene: scrunchies, banana clips and snap-on bracelets to name a few. Remember anklets? They’re something you probably haven’t worn since elementary school, hiding somewhere in the bottom of your jewelry box with your old Lip Smackers. But trends never die forever, and anklet bracelets are on their way back in—or at least Vanessa Hudgens thinks so. She doesn’t seem want to take off the dainty silver anklet she’s been wearing all over the place recently: with nude pumps at the recent Pirates of the Caribbean premiere, atop black suede heels while grabbing a smoothie in L.A., and even while hosting an event at Vegas nightclub Pure in March. And she’s not the only one,  Shenae Grimes has been digging the trend too.

We’re not entirely convinced, though it is fun to accessorize those ankles that have been hidden for months under long pants and boots. Plus, as Vanessa showed, they go easily from day to night. Try glamming up your most basic pair of flip-flops with an anklet, or accessorizing your favorite nighttime pumps. What do you think? Is your ankle begging for a little bling-bling or are bracelets meant for our wrists?

White is summer’s most dominant trend. It’s also one of the most intimidating styles to pull off. Will it be too sheer? Will it get stained? How can you pull it off if you’re not a model? This season, one way to go is girly.

    Who: Milla Jovovich
What: The premiere of La Conquete at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18
    Wear: Custom Prada dress

Le sigh. Yesterday, Milla Jovovich stunned us with her 35-carat diamond ring (we just can’t even…), and now we can’t stop staring at this glistening custom Prada number she wore at Cannes. Fashioned from the line’s graphically tailored fall 2011 collection, the bugle bead-embellished dress pulls together white and nude with a striking red trim and drop-waist belt in the most polished way possible. The deep plunging V-neckline and the polo collar together make for an interesting look that we find appealing for some reason. It’s probably all those beads! Jovovich topped off her look with matching red lipstick and her best Marilyn Monroe ‘do. What do you think of this look?

Summer can be the best of times, but for our makeup, it can be the worst of times. When applying eye makeup, whether it’s mascara or liner, be sure to go for waterproof formulas (you never know when you could be caught in a summer thunder storm or take a spontaneous dip in the pool!). And after your day is through, be sure to use oil-free wipes to remove all the sweat, dirt, and oil that’s accumulated on your face during the day. In case you forgot, there’s another British Kate getting married this summer, except her wedding probably won’t be on TV and we’re not expecting to see the Queen Mother share the dance floor with any commoners. Regardless, it’s an exciting time for the world’s most famous supermodel, and it shows. Kate, giver of only the rarest of interviews, bestowed twenty minutes on the Telegraph from the Ritz in Paris this week, and here’s what we can all add to our teeny tiny fact bank on Miss Moss:
