Meet Exodus27

Hi Dolls! Today, I have the pleasure of introducing you to Jailer, a self-proclaimed  "British bulldog doll hailing from the UK - 22 years wise," with strong interests in fashion and philosophy.

What inspired your username?

A suspicious array of celebrities were found dead with a white lighter in their pocket at the age of 27 (including one of my personal heroes, Amy Winehouse) I often felt like I was destined to belong to this club. EXODUS is defined as “a mass departure (of people)”, there is something empowering about moving protests, for example. “exodus” and “27” are also the titles of two songs by one of my favorite rap artists, M.I.A.

Tell us about your Stardoll Journey!
In the early 2000s I had an obsession with online makeup and fashion games, I was enthralled by the idea of virtual beauty and the ability to create impossible women in a fantasy world. It wasn’t long before I came across “Paperdoll Heaven,” which allowed me to style numerous celebrities in outrageous outfits. I remember I would attempt to “stack” shoes and use skirts and bags as headpieces. Later this blossomed into the Stardoll we all know and love today and being able to have my very own dress up doll that I could fashionably demolish in my own creative way was the exact outlet I needed and still desire.

Tell us about yourself. Describe your nationality and cultural background.

I reside in the United Kingdom, more specifically the north of England, and our culture is quite interesting. I have an underused degree in creative writing and currently work in fashion (visual merchandising). I am *barely* fluent in English and speak Yorkshire slang. I grew up and still live in an industrial town; it is the home to many working-class families, including my own. Also, I grew up on the streets and learned very quickly how to fend for myself. I think people have this romanticized idea of Britain, being exposed only to the glitz of London and the likes - but there is a real underbelly, and it is far more authentic.

FUN FACT: In England you won’t go bankrupt if you break your leg. God bless the NHS!

Shout outs:
Visit 123Twiggy…..4, I could rave about her for hours! Royalty Club: I really treasure my place there. I’m inspired by John Galliano, Matty Bovan, an incredible British designer and the true queen of England, Viv Westwood. I'd to love to jet over to Sweden and perhaps have a steak dinner with Callie herself. My favorite Starplaza store was Fudge (RIP) and now its BodMod or 9to5. I hope more vintage high fashion comes to Stardoll.

Share any advice!
My advice is to BE YOURSELF. Cliché, but clichés ring true when they are most needed. I like to think that I represent a sense of originality and true British punk-ness. When I won NCG, it showed me others appreciate it. It's alarming to see so many Kylie Jenner-looking dolls running for contests. There is nothing more admirable than being unapologetically original, and Stardoll gives us so much freedom to be as creative as we want - why use that to be just like everyone else?
