I'm going to begin a series called 'A Book I Read'  where I'll to be writing small reviews on books that I've read and enjoyed. I'm starting off with a great book called The German Girl by Armando Lucas Correa.

Here is an official synopsis of the book:
Berlin 1939. Before everything changed, Hannah Rosenthal lived a charmed life. But now the streets are draped in ominous flags and Hannah is no longer welcome in the places she once considered home. A glimmer of hope appears in the shape of the St Louis, a transatlantic liner that promises Jews safe passage to Cuba. At first, the liner feels like luxury, but as they travel the circumstances of war change, and the ship that was to be their salvation seems likely to be their doom.

New York, 2014. On her twelfth birthday, Anna Rosen receives a mysterious package from an unknown relative in Cuba, her great-aunt Hannah. Its contents inspire Anna and her mother to travel to Havana and learn the truth about her family's mysterious and tragic past.

My Opinion: I love how this book is deeply researched and well-informative of the events.  Its description gives you a clear picture and even makes you feel like you're there. The author perfectly captures the character's emotions and feelings which the gives the reader insight and a chance to connect with the character and the book. The theme of this heartbreaking tale is deeply poignant. This has to be one of my all-time favourite book.
