Taking Advantage of Stress

71 maanden geleden

Hi Dollies!

Contrary to popular belief, a bit of stress is actually good for you! Since I am studying my last year of school, I’m looking for every resource I can get my hands on and so recently viewed a talk about stress. Now I understand we’ve already had a post regarding stress relief, so I’m going to offer a different view.

If you’re studying seriously, you may find a vague pattern in your stress during the course of a term or semester. Usually it rises steadily as the workload gradually increases, and peaks during assessment week or exams. Unfortunately, with no past experience, I can only guess at what the workforce is like, but I hope the following still applies.

You may know stress is quite natural. The history of it stems back from when we were primitive humans and it was caused by the dangers of animals and survival in day-to-day life, triggering our ‘fight or flight’ mode. It’s actually quite helpful in those circumstances, as stress releases fancy enzymes in your brain and raises your adrenaline, allowing you to think clearer and work faster. Pretty neat, right?

Of course I’m not saying procrastinate until the deadline and push the stress into a full meltdown--that’s too far and your capabilities completely drop like that. Work at a steady rate so your stress rises with your workload at a steady, controlled pace so you can use it to your advantage.

Lastly, remember to take breaks when you need to. We’re only human so don’t expect to work tirelessly even with the adrenaline coursing through your body. Devote some ‘me time’ through a well-planned timetable or routine, and remember; you are smart enough and strong enough to fight through life’s challenges and win!

I hope you find motivation in this post. Would you like more tips like these from me? All the best!

Take care,

♡ Joanne
