Fortify your password

99 maanden geleden

Your password may not be secure! Most people create simple passwords that can be figured out using patience and sometimes special software. Keep your account safe by changing your password to something impossible to guess and hard for computers to figure out.

Never have the same character repeat. Making your password easy to type by using something like 222 is foolish. Make sure to use special characters such as # $ & and numbers as well as letters. For example: "pl^y6r0und" is easy for me to remember, it is the word playground, with a special character instead of the "a" and numbers instead of the "g" and the "o". Do not use this one, but create your own which is easy for you to remember and impossible to guess. Write it down and keep it in a secret, safe place.

Here are the details for "pl^y6r0und".

 • Length: 10 characters

• Character Combinations: 51

• Possible Combinations: 119 quadrillion

I'm told that it would take a hacker using a program that makes 4 billion calculations a second about 345 days to crack "pl^y6r0und".

If you use "stardoll" these are the numbers.

• Length: 8 characters

• Character Combinations: 26

• Calculations Per Second: 4 billion

• Possible Combinations: 208 billion

I'm told it would take that same hacker 52 seconds to crack "stardoll".

Of course, this does not take into account that "stardoll" is easy to guess. So is "password". I hope none of you are using such easy passwords.

Take the time to make sure your password is strong. And while you are at it, make sure you have a current verified email address attached to your account.

Play safe and have fun.
