When I dress my doll with long cardigans and coats, I use a trick that helps me create an illusion that completes my look.

In this case, I am wearing the long "peachy cardi" from Pretty n' Love. Note that the gap behind my legs makes the look less convincing.

Whenever this happens, I try to find a skirt that is close in color, or create one using Stardesign fashion. Then I place the skirt and try to match up the hemline with the long coat.

Then I send it behind the other items to complete the look.

The skirts from Basics are great for this trick. This time I used the "slit gown skirt" from Voile. You don't have to match the color of the coat or cardi exactly, it could be interpreted as the color of the reverse side of the fabric or the lining. This trick is most convincing with black garments. Sometimes I even put in one more piece to make it look like the coat is lines with a contrasting fabric. With a little experimentation, you will find a way to use this tip that works for you.
