há 157 meses

Spending time outside in the summer months may be pleasurable, but it’s also exhausting.  Sometimes we just want a fully functioning air conditioner, which is why summer movies are popular.  There are just so many, how can we ever decide what to drop the disposable cash on?  We put together a list of flicks and who to see them with so you can get your buttered popcorn (and cute superhero) fill.

By yourself: Mr. Popper’s Penguins, June 17

We all remember our parents reading this book.  Mr. Popper was always into some kind of mischief that made us laugh out loud.  Watch this comedy to relive your childhood and see the hilarious Jim Carrey in his newest role, without feeling like your friends are judging you for seeing a PG movie.

On a date: Green Lantern, June 17

Hottie Ryan Reynolds?  Check.  Action?  Check.
Green Lantern follows Hal Jordan (Reynolds) as he fights to keep the balance of the universe in check after a new enemy threatens to destroy it.  And while your crush will be enthralled with the action, you can ogle Reynolds all you want.

Babysitting: Cars 2, June 24

It seems like Disney/Pixar just keeps getting things right.  Cars 2 is the sequel to the original comical movie featuring the voices of Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen and Larry the Cable Guy as tow truck Mater.  McQueen is racing at the World Grand Prix meanwhile Mater gets sidetracked on a secret spy mission.  Full of laughs, there will be jokes for you to enjoy and fun for young kids.

With the family: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, July 15

Harry, Ron, and Hermione continue their search around the wizarding world to find the last of Lord Voldemort’s Horcruxes in the grand finale of the Harry Potter movie series.  We cried when we read the seventh book and we’re sure to do it again in the final installment.  Bring your family, as it’s been a train of sequels the entire clan loves.

Girl’s night out: Monte Carlo, July 1

Catch Selena Gomez in one of her first feature-length films.  She stars as Grace, who saves up her money for a trip to Paris with her friends Emma (Katie Cassidy) and Meg (Leighton Meester).  In the city of love, they find adventure, romance, and a tag-a-long football player played by Cory Monteith.  All the right ingredients for the perfect movie with the girls! Round up one of your trusty sidekicks and catch a flick!  Do you have a movie picked out yet?
