Real Life Fashion Tips
Welcome back!
In many places around the world, coronavirus restrictions are still limiting people’s movement to workplaces, schools, shops and many other places you may normally go to. While this can seem like an extremely dark time, many of us are using creative coping mechanisms to get through this time and distract ourselves from the negative thoughts we may be having. One of those things is a passion that brings us dolls together as a community- fashion! So, without any further ado, here are some real-life fashion tips & pieces of advice for you.
Tucking in a shirt can completely change an outfit.
This may seem strange, but it can actually make a huge difference. A few years back, I used to be in love with dressing in a tomboyish and casual manner, however when I decided I wanted to experiment with a more preppy look, tucking in my shirt really made me look the part. If you try this trick out, make sure to let me know in the comments section how you find it.
Using the colour wheel to find complimentary colours can help you to match clothes.
You don’t need to know much about the colour wheel or art to make a quick search for complimentary colours on the wheel online. This will be a step-by-step guide to matching colours in an aesthetically pleasing way- it is a much quicker way than using your own judgement to match colours.
Tight & loose clothes can easily be mixed & matched.
While you may only see clothes of a certain level of tightness worn together, don’t be afraid to play with the idea of how close each item you’re wearing is to your body. A loose flannel shirt over tight-fitting dresses can look striking when chosen carefully.
Accessories make more of a difference than you think.
Many people often forget about how much pieces of jewelry, belts and bags can make a difference to an outfit. If your outfit is feeling a little plain and you’re not sure how to make it look as striking as you want it to, having a look through your accessories can help you find something that will make it pop.
In the end, you dress for you.
Unfortunately, there are still a lot of people in today’s society who take it upon themselves to judge other people based on what they wear. They may say boys can’t wear skirts or dresses,or they may say that two different styles should never be mixed. It’s very sad to see people being cruel to others for something totally harmless- but you have to remember that you should only wear what makes you feel confident and happy.
Take care,
