Stardoll Staff AMA Answers!

há 52 meses

Hey Dolls!

Here are the answers from the Stardoll AMA we had last week. We asked several staff members to read through and pick one to answer! Check out their answers below!

-fiore2000- from Italy asks: Hello Stardoll staff. My question is did you expect all this success of the site?

Hey -fiore2000-! Great question! This is Marcus answering, and I have worked in finance here for several years. We knew that an online paperdoll experience would be fun, and when we originally launched Stardoll and focused on featuring celebrities, we thought it would be successful, but I would say we didn’t expect for the site to grow and evolve to become as successful as it became. What started out as a dress up game became much more. It’s a long-lasting hybrid of gaming and social media and we have collaborated with some A-list celebrities and companies over the years. I can’t wait to see what’s in store next!

Tinydancerr from Hungary asks:
1. Do you have any favorite memories about working on Stardoll?

2. What is your favorite Stardoll feature?

3. What is one of your interests that is not connected to Stardoll at all?
Hi Tinydancerr! I love Elton John and your username! This is Shelby from Content answering!
1. My favorite memory working on Stardoll has been seeing the creativity that our members have. We get lots of suggestions on what you’d like to see offered here, and this includes clothing items made by members either in real life or online. For example, we featured clothing created by angharadbbz in a recent Stardoll Feat. and we released a line created by Brittzay in Original Future. Both real-life designers/Stardolls are awesome and creative and different and inspiring!
2. My favorite feature here on Stardoll is the Stylist Studio. To be able to style others is so much fun and always a challenge to get them a style that works for them, rather than how I would choose to style someone!
3. I love to paint and often have gallery shows. In fact, one of my pieces is an art piece here on Stardoll!

stellandr from Greece asks: why do you delete accounts after one year of non use? Is it possible to get them back?
Hi stellandr -- Raul from Security here. Accounts like you’re describing aren’t deleted so much as put in hibernation. This allows our system to run more efficiently when there’s less data that we need immediate access to. You can always write in to have an old account reactivated, and will be asked to confirm some information so that we can ensure you are the original and rightful owner. I hope this information is helpful.

MissSybila from Czech Republic asks: How many animes did you watch and which one did you enjoy the most?
Hey there MissSybila, Jeanette here! I work in engagement and worked hard with Amber on this year’s Callie Con theme! We reviewed a lot of different anime in order to find ones that would resonate with as many fans as possible while also hopefully encouraging those not familiar with anime to check them out! My favorite anime is Sailor Moon, as I was a ‘90s girl and watched them growing up! Getting to re-watch again has been a blast!

melony2210 from Brazil asks: Qual foi a inspiração para o estilo da Callie? Ela é baseada em alguém real? (What was the inspiration for Callie's style? Is it based on someone real?)
Hi melony2210! This is Callie answering this question! The inspiration for my doll’s style is based on what I would wear in real life. Sometimes it’s nice to get dolled up more here on Stardoll than in real life these days as I am currently working from home. My inspiration comes from a wide variety of real-life sources: the beaches of California, Native American culture, my extensive travels around the globe, and the fashionable influencers you’d see on Instagram are a few sources I constantly rely on.

JustEren from Turkey asks: Stafflar bebeklerini yaratırken nasıl olmasına özen gösteriyor? (What do the Staff consider when dressing up their dolls?)
Hello JustEren! Iris here, and I assist with customer support occasionally, along with other duties here at Stardoll! When there is a theme or special day or campaign, I try to dress my doll to match. As a staff member, it’s a tiny bit easier for me, since I have access to the entire backlog of fashion we have ever had here on Stardoll! ;) On regular days, I will dress my doll up as I feel. Sometimes cute and casual, other times dressy, and still days are cozy. Right now my doll is ready for the beach, because I wish I was there right now!

Raul* asks: How did you all adapt to working from home?
Hey there Raul*, this is Mandeep answering your question. I work on the tech end of Stardoll. We already use a lot of inter-office and sharing platforms, such as Trello, Slack, etc., so in that sense, it wasn’t terribly difficult to make the transition, as our office culture allowed for working from home when needed already. When we transitioned the entire office to WFH (work from home) for the foreseeable future, my workload changed a bit as I had to prioritize tech needs for the staff that they perhaps did not have at home. As this has been our norm and will be ongoing, that has calmed down and we are now at the point of missing the day-to-day interactions that don’t happen as organically on a Zoom conference call. We are all looking forward to when it’s safe to work together again.

smokey816 from USA asks:
Do you have any new furry coworkers working from home?

What's the biggest challenge working from home?

What's your favorite part about working from home?

Where is the first place you'll go once the world has calmed down?

What is your favorite discontinued stardoll store (ex. Decades, Fudge, etc., etc.)

What is your favorite type of clothing to recreate on Stardoll?

What was your favorite campaign/brand deal Stardoll has done? (ex. endangered species, GoT, Kohl's etc., etc.)
Hey smokey816, this is Randy, and I am an artist for Stardoll. I like your questions and selected yours to answer.
I have two Persian long-hair cats who are my furry coworkers nowadays, as well as a scaly coworker named Bernard (a gecko). The furry ones are definitely sleeping on the job more than I am comfortable with, and Bernard is a little too quiet, so I am convinced he’s plotting something…
The biggest challenge is making sure I am working only the hours I need to. Since my commute to the office is gone, it’s quite easy to keep on working after the day should be done, so I have been setting an alarm to remind myself that it’s quittin’ time for the day.

My favorite part of WFH is the commute. I tumble out of bed and stumble to the kitchen for coffee, then avoid the jumpin’ traffic as I start my 9-to-5, usually while humming some Dolly Parton.

Where will I go when it all calms down? Hmmm, perhaps DollyWood!
My favorite discontinued shop is Folk, and I was glad it got re-released in Archive! It’s my favorite because it celebrates so many cool cultures.

I like recreating really funky pieces. And we recently did some re-colors of old stuff, which was actually cool, because we got suggestions from our members on what items should be recolored and what colors they should be, and you guys have great taste! It was fun to see some ‘classics’ reimagined with today’s color palette!
My favorite brand deal, hmmm, I liked the recent Biolage R.A.W. campaign with the shampoo hair since that was something new. And from the past, I loved the My Little Pony campaigns because they were colorful and fun!

Thanks to everyone who asked great questions, and to the staff members that took the time to read through your questions and provide answers!
