The Powerful Meaning Of The Semi-Colon;

há 79 meses

Hello, Dolls!

Have you ever noticed the special semi-colon tattoo in Sprinkled? To several, it probably just seemed like a semi-colon.

Until a little while ago, before looking it up, I thought the exact same thing. But, to be honest, the semi-colon can actually mean a lot more.

The semi-colon, or more specifically, the semi-colon tattoo, is known to represent a symbol of hope for those with mental illnesses who could have stopped moving forward, but didn't. The Semicolon Project, an organization that is focused on preventing self-harm, was who originally started this amazing movement.

Why a semi-colon though? It's because a semicolon represents 'a sentence that the author could have ended but chose not to. The sentence pauses and keeps going.'  In a translation, the sentence is your life and the author is you. The pause is taking a break and sharing your story to help others.

The semicolon is a very amazing & inspiring symbol. Although it's mainly for those with mental illnesses such as anxiety, depression, etc., it is very inspiring for me, too. Throughout the past few years, I've honestly suffered from a lot of allergy attacks. I could've given up trying, but chose not to. In fact, I'm still suffering from allergy attacks and I'm even recovering from one while typing this. At times, I feel like I'll never make it through them, and it's difficult to keep fighting when giving up can seem so much easier.

Whether you suffer from mental illnesses, allergies (like me), or have no medical issues at all, it's very important to remember to never give up on anything, no matter how hard it is, including your life. Like the semi-colon, you might have no idea where you're going next, the same chapter won't last forever, but you're not ready to end the story. You're preparing to begin a new chapter.

Everyone's story has several years of chapters to come, and the hardest chapters are just preparing you for the incredible adventures soon to come.

Has the semicolon inspired you?

Until next time,
- Cat;
