Catwalk Analysis

Last week I was lucky enough to visit Paris for Fashion Week! I was there primarily to photograph street style, but also to spot upcoming trends. One of the shows on my last day was Dior, which will be the main inspiration for this blog post. I managed to catch a couple of models after the show, including Binx Walton, Fernanda Hin Lin Ly and Teddy Quinlivan. The make-up was fresh and natural, working well with the loosely waved hair.

My first outfits focus on the dresses. Within the show there was a mix of styles and textures, along the lines of mesh, pleats, ruffles, velvet and galaxy inspired glitter. The styling was kept clean and minimal, with simple chokers, dainty necklaces and handbags, with a colour palette of black and navy. Another key aspect were the leather berets. What I loved about the styling was how a floaty, delicate dress would be layered under a chunky sweater and worn with boots. I decided to style my first outfit with last seasons 'We should all be feminists' shirt, which works perfectly with the theme (inspiration from first wave feminism) and ties in with International Women's Day.

As well as the feminine dresses, there was also a lot of denim and workwear inspired pieces. The pieces were slouchy, and in the form of boiler suits, oversized shirts and jackets. I love double denim so I was super happy to see it on the runway, however a toned-down way to wear it would be in different shades of denim rather than all the same. With the styling, I carried on with the contrasting pieces, so I paired some classic heels with the jumpsuit, and a classic white shirt with frayed denim jeans and jacket.
