Androgynous Fashion
Androgyny, for those of you who aren't familiar with the term (me, not so long ago), is the combination of male and female characteristics (of indeterminate gender). Androgyny is not a new fan-dangled trend, in fact, it has been around forever. From the Brontë sisters who used male alias' for writing to Mulan (yes, the Disney character) people have been portraying themselves as the other gender for years.
With the legalisation of gay rights globally occurring, there is a rise in androgyny in fashion.
As one would assume by the definition of androgyny, the looks are composed of both male and female fashion items. The mixture of these items creates an edgy and gender neutral look. Don't they always say it's good to keep them guessing?
For females like these mannequins, their main feminine feature is their shape so it's important to have flatter/sharp edged male clothing with small feminine touches (colour or heels). It's all a balancing act of feminity and masculinity!
Did you know what androgynous meant before this?
