Yesterday, the fashion community was up in arms over the White House’s re-scheduling of the annual design awards. The luncheon’s traditionally held in July, and hosted by the First Lady, but this year it will land on September 13th in the middle of New York Fashion Week. That means two of the three fashion honorees, Prabal Gurung and Jason Wu, won’t be able to make it. The third, Gilles Mendel, changed the date of his runway show so he could make it to DC. Today’s news that Oprah’s headed our way thanks to Ralph Lauren sort of makes up for the scheduling conflict. In October, she’ll sit down with Lauren at Lincoln Center to talk about his life, his career and anything else that was left out of her lengthy TV special earlier this summer. The president of Lincoln Center said, “We fully anticipated that fashion and design would, over time, become a more enduring and visible part of the creative spectrum at Lincoln Center, meaning that we would have events throughout the year. That is beginning to come to pass in a whole variety of ways which will unfold over time.” The invite only gala, called Lincoln Center Presents: An Evening with Ralph Lauren, will benefit The Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

Love em’ or hate em’, they’re here to stay. That’s right: high-waisted pants were huge on the runways this year and won’t be going anywhere for quite some time; we couldn’t be happier! We love the sophisticated, put-together look, but we all know that it can be difficult to wear the trend while still maintaining a figure-flattering silhouette. The worst is having your fierce high-waisted pants look like mom pants instead. But with the ’70s in full swing everywhere from Marc Jacobs to Gucci, we’ve figured out how to tailor the rest of your outfit so that  high-waisted trousers will actually become the most flattering thing to happen to your figure since Spanx! Just remember: less is more when it comes to putting together an outfit with high-waisted pants. Try and keep the rest of your ensemble relatively simple to compensate for the extra material of the pants.

These stylish ladies certainly have a lot going for them. From part-time models to full-time fashionistas, these talented DJs and trendy it-girls have dominated more than just the music scene lately. Not only do they rock the turn tables, they also impress the crowds with their stylish ensembles behind the DJ booth. Check out which DJ’s wardrobes we’re most envious of.

Premium Last week, Ali Lohan made headlines for something other than being Lindsay’s little sister. The 17-year-old Long Island native signed with NEXT, the modeling agency that reps everyone from Alexa Chung and Anja Rubik to Molly Sims and Arizona Muse. The littlest Lohan’s already given music, movies and TV a shot, but given the speed with which she landed her first modeling contract she may have better luck with this field. Lohan just shot PRVCY Premium’s fall campaign, a sort of sequel to that scandalous 6126 shoot she did for her big sister in which she wore see-through sweater dresses and lace mini skirts. Though PRVCY Premium’s moving in a “vamped up design direction,” Ali’s black and whites are (thank goodness) more age-appropriate. The campaign was shot by Collin Stark and will be used for the brand’s look book, line sheets and online advertising campaign.

It’s the shoe that keeps on giving: leopard print, cosmic print, floral print, American print, and so on. When you think of Jeffrey Campbell, it’s the one shoe comes to mind: The Lita. That sky-scraping, wooden-heeled shoe that fashionistas fawn over. But while we,  too, lust over these heels, we wondered how to actually wear them best. Here are some staple pieces that will make the Lita and your wardrobe the best of friends.

Dr. Martens First and Forever Campaign

This morning Dr. Martens previewed their fall collection and new campaign, ‘First and Forever’. The brand’s CEO, David Suddens told us, “the idea for the campaign developed when we realized that everyone remembers their first pair of Dr. Martens.”  Expanding on the idea of firsts, the company is encouraging everyone to share their personal ‘first’ experiences on their site. Agyness Dean makes a modeling comeback in the ad’s film version, speaking about the experience of a first heartbreak. At this morning’s event, photo blogging hosts Scott Schuman and Garance Doré, shared stories about starting their respective sites. Doré even spoke about her first big photo shoot! Guests proceeded to get personal with stories about love, children, and oddly enough—bodily fluid. Amidst all the sharing, we got a sneak peek at the brand’s new fall styles which run the gamut from cozy looking fur-lined boots to stiletto lace-ups. It all has us waxing nostalgic about our first pair of Docs!

Allie Gonino is one multi-talented, super-sweet 21-year old from L.A. A former pop star in girl band The Stunners, she toured with Justin Bieber and made a music video featuring New Boyz, but has decided to take a different route—kind of. She has plans for taking on Broadway, the big-screen, and pretty much anything along the performance spectrum and looks up to The Dixie Chicks and Reese Witherspoon. She’s inspired by her role model, Lady Gaga—whom she says is a walking “performance piece”—and calls herself Baby Gaga. But she’s your average galpal, and just like you and me: she shops at Urban Outfitters, American Apparel, and Topshop (whenever she gets the chance!), but still eyes those Christian Louboutins we wish to own one day.

Ever wonder how the Kardashians get their coveted hair styled and camera-ready every day? The secret: it’s all in the middle part. But mastering the middle part can be tricky, so we’ve rounded up the dos and don’ts of the center part. Do: Add waves. Straight hair with a middle part is an extreme look (if you can pull it off, why not), but waves add a softness that makes your overall look less harsh. Rachel Bilson’s mastered the middle part, and the loose waves add the perfect soft finishing touch.

We all love Givenchy. We all love Kanye. And we all love Jay-Z. And now, designer Riccardo Tisci’s bringing the fashion and music giants together for the Watch The Throne Project. Tisci doesn’t stray from his dramatic runway designs as the albums art work includes geometric, animal-faced, religious and texturized prints. While we were on the edge of our seats anticipating the drop of the collab album which released on Monday, we couldn’t wait to see Tisci’s vision of it. Grab the album, rock some beats and enjoy some artwork. View all the work here.

    Photo: Courtey of MTV

We’ve gotten glimpses of this hottie before, but praise the heavens he’s landed one of the lead roles in the new MTV series Awkward. so we can stare at that body—er, face—on our TV screens for that lustful 30-minute time slot every week. While your older sister may have swooned over him while he played Danny Bolan on ABC’s hit series Desperate Housewives or you spotted the shirtless hunk in I am Number Four, the heart throb finally plays a heart throb in Awkard., a high school comedy, as Matty McKibben. While much of the school falls all over him, it’s love interest Jenna Hamilton we are rooting for (only because we aren’t in the running). Beau Mirchoff likes long walks on the beach, dinner by candlelight…just kidding. But he does play electric guitar and loves to camp. And you know what else makes this boy even more appealing? He was born on Friday the 13th—oooh the air of mystery. Catch Awkward. on MTV, Tuesdays at 11. We’re sure you’ll be dreamin’ like a baby after the show’s over.
