Comme des Garçons
The theme for the 2017 Met Gala was Comme des Garçons, a Tokyo based high fashion brand founded by Rei Kawakubo. The label is often quite conceptual, using unusual shapes and asymmetry to establish a unique aesthetic. While Rei Kawakubo's early designs within Comme des Garçons used mainly black and white, the label eventually branched out into using bright colors- while still retaining that abstract feel. Zendaya Inspired Met Ball Gown
While Zendaya chose not to wear a Comme des Garçons piece to the Met Gala this year, the Dolce & Gabbana dress she did choose to wear is certainly stunning. A brightly tropical parrot print adorns the dress, creating an image that almost seems like a book illustration!
