Styling Basics

For this post, I have styled some of my favorite pieces from the recent Basics release! You can also mix and match these looks so they work for the item colors you prefer!

I styled the grey miniskirt with a light grey baby tee, then a pair of kitten heels with some sheer black socks. I added a black blazer (mine is handheld - go for a boxy, slightly oversized fit for one to wear), then a patent bag to match the shoes, some black sunglasses, and crystal stud earrings. Next, I could not resist a Carrie Bradshaw-inspired outfit with this Norma Kamali dress, which is so similar to the one Carrie wears in Sex and the City. I added some black mules, silver stud earrings (or go for silver hoops instead), a simple necklace, and some 90s-inspired oval sunglasses. To complete the outfit, I went for a classic black Fendi Baguette bag, which was created in 1997 but became an it-bag a little later (2000) after it appeared in SATC!

Next, I styled the beige mini dress with a baby blue coat. I added some layered gold necklaces and some hoops, then a pair of strappy heels. I went for a pair with gold to tie in with the jewelry, but the beige or baby blue strappy heels from the Basics release would work too. I then styled the beige heels with a matching blazer and added some light-wash jeans, some chunky gold earrings, and a white mini bag. For an alternative outfit, take away the jeans and add an oversized unbuttoned white shirt worn as a mini dress under the blazer.

I styled the hot pink dress and strappy heels with an oversized leather jacket. You could swap the jacket for an oversized black blazer instead, or the heels for a pair of knee-high heeled boots. I added some silver hoop earrings, a bag with chain detail, and a pair of black sunglasses. I then paired the pink miniskirt with a cropped white shirt, a black mini bag, and matching heels. I added a pair of vintage-style sunglasses, some mini hoop earrings, and a mix of crystal and chain necklaces.

I then styled the beige dress again, this time a more casual look with a pair of sneakers. The grey dress would also work with the grey and beige detail on the sneakers. I added a  black headband and some white and silver headphones. For my next outfit, I was loosely inspired by Gisele Bündchen's outfit in Taxi (2004). I went for a white tank instead of a black one and added a matching beige bag with a chain strap, some classic white pumps, and some 00s sunglasses to match the original inspiration.

Next, I styled the grey cropped turtleneck and miniskirt together and added an oversized grey coat. I went for a pair of black leather knee-high boots, but I also like this outfit with a pair of chunky loafers and slouchy white socks. I added a classic black leather belt, a headband, and a pair of silver hoops. For my final outfit, I chose the grey version of the blazer and styled it with a red teddy sweater (for a pop of color) layered with a white shirt. I went for a black leather miniskirt, but I also like this look with a pair of light-wash jeans. For accessories, I added a leather cap, hoops, and some loafers with white socks.
