5 Art Ideas- Get Creative!

Welcome back!

If you, like me, find painting, drawing, sketching or other forms of visual art enjoyable and exciting but are sometimes unsure of where to start, this post is for you. Keep reading for some tips and tricks on how to start (or continue) your journey with visual art when you feel you don’t know how.

  1. Try to find artists who inspire you!

If you know what art you like, but aren’t sure what type of art you’d like to create, it might be a good idea to try and get inspired by pieces you know you’re a fan of. Be careful though- always give credit where credit is due, and be sure not to plagiarize while getting inspired.

  1. Create from feeling.

Some of the world’s most famous artists claim that what drives them the most in their art career is the emotions they experience on a daily basis. Some also find it very therapeutic to get their emotions out through art in a tangible way- so this might help you too.

  1. Use your words…

Just because an art piece is visual, it doesn’t mean a few key words and phrases can’t be part of your work- if you’re not sure how to convey the idea that you want to, letters just might help you out.

 Check your working environment.

If you feel like you just can’t be creative no matter what, you might want to think about the space you’re in. Do you collage better in your bedroom or in the park? Do you like talking to people while you sculpt or would you rather have some silence? Don’t be afraid to change things up.

 Have fun!

Remember, any hobby or interest should be about enjoying yourself and feeling mentally and emotionally better after participating in the activity than you did before. Although it’s hard, try not to put too much pressure on yourself to create ‘perfect’ artwork and prioritize yourself and your happiness.

Take care,
