Dig into Queen Letizia's closet
Hello my loves. Today we're switching up things.
Instead of doing an outfit using an item inspired by another worn by a royal in real life, we're doing outfits inspired by the outfits of the royal who wore said item!
Now, before we begin: This hatband that my doll is wearing came as a surprise to me on the latest MS.TQ release. When we thought things couldn't get better after a MS.TQ collection with hats inspired by the ones worn by royals, Stardoll surprised us with yet another hat, this time worn by one of my most favorite royals, Queen Letizia of Spain. It was first worn in 2019 for the Order of the Garter event in Windsor, UK. The event was the one I waited the most for in 2019, with lots of excitement because it brought together not one, not two but THREE ICONIC ROYALS - Queen Letizia of Spain, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge. 3 of my favorite royals. The 4th being Princess Mary of Denmark, if you're wondering.
Queen Letizia is just so beautiful, so fancy, stylish, and graceful. I absolutely adore her. She's also very nice, despite the media constantly framing her as rude. I've watched and heard many of her speeches and in some of them she even spoke almost perfect Portuguese wich melts my Portuguese heart. I have said it in the past and repeat, she's the true definition of fashion queen. I love practically everything she wears. Maybe a few items here and there might make me turn my nose but it's still a VERY small percentage. With this said, I have tried to style my doll wearing only things I could imagine her wearing. I have to say it was a fun challange and I had to get used to the lack of jewelry hahaha!
I say this because Letizia is known for being minimalist. She often wears simple pieces in a range of pastel shades and often black and white, and usually keeps the acessories to a minimum. For the first outfit I incorporated just that by wearing a layered dress I made using different pieces to give it a B&W color block look. I marked the waist with a belt, something she hasn't necessarily done much but she does like dresses with a belted waist effect. I paired the dress with court heels she often wears, a simple black clutch purse and finished the look with a beautiful pair of diamond and pearl earrings. She's known to mix the Spanish crown's jewels with her modern outfits and I love that.
Then I did another B&W outfit but this time I inspired myself in her more formal looks that can be worn to events that are held in a Church or a State visit.
I placed this jacket with a skirt to give the effect of a belted dress and kept yet again, the same shoes because she's clearly a fan of those. I chose a different bag this time, a bit bigger and chunkier, as she sometimes does like to wear bags in different sizes. But always in a clutch bag style. Then as this outfit is much more conservative than the other, I chose to put some jewelry on it, as she often does for very important events (like weddings).
For this outfit I went with a long dress with a jacket. This is the type of dress code a royal would be displaying in events that occur in the afternoon and have a very formal setting. Such case is the Spanish Pascua Militar, or Military Easter, an event held at the beginning of the year and is treated as a holiday. The event gathers ministers and armed forced and the monach usually gives a political/military directioned speech. Anyways, for this outfit I went with a long blue gown and jacket over it, accentuated with a belt. which I totally see Queen Letizia doing. I kept the other acessories the same because Letizia does seem to favor small clutch bags and court heels. I inspired myself in this year's outfit color and 2019's styling idea. I used some of my favorite jewels to complete it, but I think I would have removed the necklace now that I think of it. Letizia isn't all crazy about jewels like I am. She would probably only wear the bracelet and earrings. 2019 gave us a rare delight when we saw she wore a beautiful pearl brooch. It used to belong to Queen Victoria Eugenia, Queen of Spain through marriage to Afonso XIII. She was one of the many granddaughters of Queen Victoria.
And for my last outfit I inspired myself in an outfit she wore to the State visit to the UK back in 2017 when I literally fell in love with her. She OWNED that state visit with her beauty, grace and wonderful outfits but most importantly, that GROUNDBREAKING evening outfit with the biggest tiara there is in the Spanish royal vault.
I continued the neutrality of the tones and added beige for a little break of the on going B&W. Because the brooch is too big and detailed, it means it's Letizia's boundary. It's enough bling for her I guess. I didn't put any other jewels in an effort to make it simple.
I have done these outfits for a while now and now that I'm looking again, I think I missed a few things here and there. I could have switched the shoes for nude colored ones. She does that often too.
I'm not gonna like, I consider myself a "baroque" person. In the sense that it is really hard for me to not put a lot of acessories and details in my outfits. I like having everything if possible. Shoes, dress, coat, (depends), hat, gloves., purse, bracelet, ring, brooch and earrings and to style my doll in the way of Queen Letizia is indeed a challange and I probably failed. I think I should try to dress something closer to the style of Queen Máxima next time. She does seem more right up my alley. I worship almost every outfit she has worn. But one thing I can assure you. Both Letizia and Máxima could wear a potato sack or a resusable plastic bag and I'd still love it LOL!
(nah just kidding!)
