AFTER THE BLUE

On April 2, many of us wore blue or some variation of the concept to support autism awareness. The sentiment is great and I am really glad that it was shared on Stardoll however, there is a lot of controversy surrounding the initiation of the blue movement. From the reason the color is blue to the organization that started the movement, there are many valid concerns.

With that being said, awareness is a good thing, but action is better. It was great to show our support, but today and every day take action.

HOW CAN YOU DO THAT?

1. Educate yourselves! Knowledge is power, right? And with knowledge comes understanding. So find out more about the disorder so you can truly understand what it is, not just be aware.

2. Donate your time or money to an organization that supports those with Autism. Do your research and make sure that any orginations you support or donate to uses their funds appropriately and truly helps those they state.

3. Show support on the local level. I am sure there is someone perhaps in your family or in your neighborhood that has Autism. Find out what you can do to help.

4. Most of all practice acceptance. Show compassion, love and support today and everyday for anyone dealing with this or any kind of diifference.
