Hiding The True You

Hello, Dolls!

Today I'm going to be writing about a topic that is close to my heart: social media and makeup.

I think of makeup as an art. People create so many amazing, talented designs on their face and bodies using makeup. Makeup is their thing--the thing that makes them who they are! However, young girls and teens are using makeup to hide imperfections and flaws, each day covering up more and more of themselves to hide from people who will judge them. They are using makeup to try to get rid of things they don't like instead of embracing them. When they look in the mirror they see a stranger, someone else staring back at them, someone who doesn't like the same quirky things as you and doesn't like to sing loudly in the car with their mom. This new girl likes to fit in. She likes to wear heaps of makeup and she ends up making herself miserable. You can't be this girl! Don't be this girl. Be yourself.

Social media is an amazing place! You can share wonderful creations, update the world on your life. Be an influencer. Young people, however, are comparing themselves to other people, people they don't know, just because they look pretty. All of a sudden you're not pretty enough, skinny enough. You have the wrong-colored hair, you're too short or too tall, too skinny or too big. So we change. We dump our favorite striped pants because stripes aren't in anymore and we buy the latest trends. We can't keep doing this. We have to be true to ourselves.

Please don't change for someone else, it's not worth it. Don't try fit in, people will come to you for you
