A couple weeks ago, if you had given us a Hawaiian shirt we probably would have said nope, never, no thank you and passed it right along into our to-donate pile. The look has been a fashion no-no for as long as we can remember, seen only on tourists with cameras around their necks and sunscreen-whitened noses, or perhaps more embarrassingly, our Dads. Leave it to our favorite fashion designers to remind us once again to never say never when it comes to style.

This year’s resort collections from Stella McCartney, Suno and Marc by Marc Jacobs all feature luau-ready looks in super-funky island prints and, yes, we dig it. If you’re getting ready for a tropical vacay, embrace the locale and deck yourself out in Hawaiian prints. But even if you’ll be spending the season nowhere near the ocean (sad days), you can feel totally beachy with the style. Rifle through your Dad’s closet for an over-sized Hawaiian shirt and try rocking it as a coverup by the pool, or wear it buttoned up with your fave denim short-shorts,  gladiator sandals, a high bun and a pair of Ray-Bans for a perfectly casual daytime look. No luck on your Hawaiian shirt search?

Here are some more island-inspired picks:

Dress up. Take pictures. Paint. Explore. Drive. That’s exactly how it’s supposed to be, livin’ young and wild and free (thank you Wiz for that anthem). And most importantly Dream, which is exactly what best friends Kimberely and Emily did. From that dream, blossomed Wildfox Couture, a full-fledged American vintage-inspired women’s knitwear brand. When L.A fashion got too serious for the free spirited teens, Kimberely and Emily created bright baggy tees to remind people that life is about having fun. If you haven’t checked out Wildfox’s apparel then carpe diem—seize the day! Wildfox’s latest collection is based on the 1970s and rock and roll. So tune on, tune in, and drop to the beat of your own heart. After all, it’s still rock n’ roll to us. Based on the girls’ love for all things vintage, the collection pays homage to rock boyfriends, backstage babes, and The Rolling Stones. Filled with flares, platforms and over sized tees, we are more than satisfied.

Whew, that name sure is a mouthful, isn’t it? Well, you better get used to letting it roll of your tongue because famed fashion designer Albertus Swanepoel is slated to collaborate with one of our favorite stores, Target, this coming fall. We couldn’t be more thrilled!

Though it’s a unlikely duo (only because there should be more of it), we’re happy to see a recurring color combo of orange and gray in this season’s resort collections.

This is great for three reasons:

    1. orange is perfect for basically every season—it’s one of those colors that can really be worn year round;

    2. orange looks awesome with a nice bronze (a.k.a. your beach tan); and

    3. it’s a nice alternative to the neon and neutral color-blocking trend we’ve been seeing a lot of.

Moreover, the orange-and-gray combo is the perfect look for a more subtle approach to wearing brightly-hued colors. If you tend to steer clear of bold colors (like myself) and stick to mostly basics and neutrals (black, white, beige, etc.), adding a bit of orange is a really easy (and less-obvious) way to stand out if you don’t want to wear neons. Plus, since it’s paired with gray, you can still stick to your basic neutral color palette. If you’re feeling adventurous and want to wear a bright orange hue this summer, try something along the lines of this DVF resort 2012 look. Paired with gray or beige, it’s understated boldness at its best.

    Who: Jennifer Garner

What: Guest appearance on Fox and Friends, New York City, June 9.

Wear: Prada ‘Made in India’ collection dress, nude Stuart Weitzman ‘Lille’ heels.

Both philanthropic and fashionable, Jennifer Garner stopped by Fox and Friends in New York City to discuss her current endeavors to aid and educate poverty-stricken children. Garner donned a sunny summer dress directly from the ‘Made in India’ collection by Prada, a line of handmade pieces crafted entirely by Indian artisans specializing in an ancient and refined method of embroidery. With vibrant colors, airy structure, and guilt-free origin, this florid dress is superb for the summer.

Take one warbling baritone and add the melodic plucking of the Aloha State’s favorite instrument and what do you get? As one may (easily) guess, Eddie Vedder’s Ukulele Songs, released May 31, is a compilation of 16 tracks including Pearl Jam covers, unreleased songs from the past decade and a select few uke essentials. Throughout this collection, Vedder examines love, life, and loss all through the petite lens of the ukulele and does so with genuine charm.

The heat waves of summer mean less clothes, more sunglasses, and a newfound appreciation for anything cold. This season carries in a medley of hot eyeshadow shades we simply can’t get enough of. No worries—we’ve got a shade picked out just for you.

Humans moonlighting as vampires come to an end with Twilight’s Breaking Dawn set to release this summer. Which makes it a perfect time to introduce a new villain in town—don’t worry, he’s cute, too. Meet MTV’s new Teen Wolf star, Tyler Posey, who plays Scott McCall. Move over Taylor Lautner, there’s a new teen wolf in town. He’s got more than wolf in his blood.

    Who: Jaime King

What: Wednesday’s premiere of Super 8 at the Regency Village Theatre in Westwood, California

Wear: Proenza Schouler dress, Jimmy Choo clutch, and Brian Atwood pumps

Jaime King showed up to the premiere of J.J. Abrams’ much-hyped action flick, Super 8, looking hype-worthy herself. King chose an embellished coral and lavender dress straight off Proenza Schouler’s spring 2011 runway and mastered its tricky midi-length hem. Allowing the dress to speak for itself as one of that electrifying color combination should, the actress went simple with the rest of her look, styling her blonde tresses into a deeply-parted wavy bob (almost exactly like the runway look), and accessorizing with a minimal cocktail ring, a boxy encrusted clutch, and black satin Maniac pumps by Brian Atwood.

Last night Demi Moore joined Jennifer Lopez, Padma Lakshmi, Selita Ebanks, and former President Bill Clinton at Samsung’s Hope for Children Gala to help raise funds for the charity. Moore’s black Louis Vuitton dress sashayed with glistening strands and feather accouterments lining the deep-V neckline. The 48-year old actress completed her sweeping outfit with strappy Jimmy Choos, and glimmering jewelry that’s impossible not to notice (along with those toned arms).
