What is Ramadan?

Ramadan (In Turkish, it's called Ramazan) is the holy month of Islam. Ramadan occurs around 11 days earlier every year. Ramadan is a time of community, we invite our neighbours or friends (after sunset) to share our meal. Mosques are full of people in Ramadan because Muslims go to the mosque to pray.

What is Fasting? (In Turkish, it's called Oruç)

In Ramadan, Muslims do not eat or drink something during daylight. (between dawn and sunset) Fasting is obligtory for Muslim people in Ramadan. Does everybody fast? No, children and pregnant women are do not have to fast.

What are we doing after Ramadan?

At the end of the Ramadan, we celebrate three day holiday of ''Şeker Bayramı''. This is called Eid al-Fitr. Muslims
