Let's Talk About It:Contests

108个月之前

Hey Dollies,

Stardoll contests are great activities to keep us entertained, test our creativity and just have a ball. Whether they come about daily, weekly or even annually they all have similar features and can be grouped into two main categories; influential voting and non-influential voting.

Influential Voting

The contests that falls into this category are; Covergirl, National Cobergirl, Best Scenery, Hottest Album, Party Planner, Starmovie  and Miss Stardoll World.
These are the contests where you can do just about anything to get users to vote for you. You can spam, broadcast, host competitions and just about anything that doesn’t break the Stardoll rules.
Someone once commented on an old blog post of mine that winning a contest doesn’t necessarily mean talent, and in a way it could be true. A business person would say that to boost the sales of a product proper advertising must be done, same thing for contests on the site -- to win a contest where users vote you need to put out your doll, the more it is advertised and around the site the better your chances of winning.

Non-Influential Voting

These contests are; The Vote, Hottest Design and the weekly Tuesday contests. These winning rely solely on luck, talent and creativity. You can do nothing to improve your chances of winning. Take The Vote for instance, the winners  are somewhat random, some may follow the theme and others not following the them, but at the end there is a winner and there is not much we can do about it.

What is your take on the contests on the site?

Kisses,
Mir
