"Pim-tervention" Vol. 9

Преди 55 месеца

This "Pim-tervention" is going to be a little different than my usual interventions. Normally, I like to adress the problems that are technologically affecting us in day-to-day gameplay, however today I'd like to adress something that I've seen around Stardoll for YEARS now, ever since contouring became popular.

If a doll doesn't have a face contour, they are in NO way any less important than the most beautiful doll that exists.

Today, I joined a chatroom where I met a doll that was upset and looking to buy a contour for her doll that she had recently re-activated after not using it for 10 years. Not long before I met her, she was bullied by 2 dolls that had contours, and elaborate hair styles. These girls pressumed that because her doll was lacking in purchases, she was somehow less than them. They went so far as to call her a "botched nose" and made her feel inadequate.

"It made me anxious to buy a contour mask but also I had to remind myself this is just a game."

This is what I would define as cyberbullying.

No matter what your doll looks like, we are all humans behind our computer screens. It shouldn't really matter what our dolls look like; they're a bunch of pixels. We, on the other hand, are flesh and bone, full of emotions and feelings, and we deserve respect.

This is not the first time I've seen a doll get targeted for their lack of designing prowess.

Years ago when contour was just beginning to rise in popularity, I saw 2 girls bullying a new doll for her creation of a bun and bangs with 3 hair pieces. It wasn't a perfect design, but it was hers, and she was proud of it. These girls took it upon themselves to crush her self-esteem calling her design worthless and a waste of 3 SD. That is absolutely unacceptable.

When I mentioned I was planning on writing this blog to a friend, she told me she's had similar experiences. One user verbally degraded her.

"She said she couldn't believe I was a Royalty because I didn't have any face masks and what a waste I was."

I don't think I'm alone when I say that I've seen this happen far too often. Yes, we're just pixels, so it shouldn't matter if someone calls us ugly, but every person has their own emotions and gets to react in their own way. Heck, why should anyone be called ugly in the first place if we are all just pixels. I can confirm right now that in real life I dont have gold skin, but it still stings a little whenever someone calls me a freak on here.

What are your thoughts on this matter? Have you ever been attaced based on your designing choices? Have you ever seen someone tear down another person's doll?
