Underneath the gloss of Fashion Month there’s been a sort of international war raging over the dates of the spring 2013 shows (taking place next September, in 2012). Two years ago, the CFDA, the British Fashion Council, the Chambre Syndicale and the Milan Chamber of Fashion met to establish a list of guidelines regarding the international fashion calendar. It was decided that New York Fashion Week would always start on the second Thursday of September. Given the shifting calendar, sometimes that would mean right after Labor Day and some years nearly two weeks after. Next year, it’d set the shows later than ever, on September 13th, pushing London’s start date to the 21st, Milan’s to the 26th and Paris’ to October 2nd. But the Milan Chamber of Fashion is fighting the calendar, saying they were under the impression the agreement was only in place for three years, and that they were in fact entitled to earlier show dates. They wanted to set the Milan collections—including heavy hitters like Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and Prada—to September 19th to 25th, directly overlapping with both New York and London.

Olivia demonstrating how to wear leather shorts.

Since Olivia Palermo stopped filming The City, almost a year ago, she’s mentioned plans to star in a new TV show and launch a fashion blog. While getting those going, she’s shot ads for Mango, guest judged for Project Runway and become the new face of Mediterráneo jewelry. But on Friday, she finally did launch that blog, called Olivia Palermo, with a staff of at least five full-timers and eleven contributors (including ELLE’s Kyle Anderson). Palermo opens the site with a note outlining her plans for the site, “Providing a forum to express my fashion inspirations from across the globe, it is my goal to show that style is international.” She says she’ll talk about her trips to London and Paris, her vintage finds and how to turn “jeans and a tee into a red-carpet worthy look on a daily basis.” So far, Palermo’s staff has posted rules for wearing leather shorts, “Add an element of surprise to an outfit by adding tailored feminine pieces like a gauzy button-down or a ruffled blouse,” and written in favor of the Stubbs and Wootton slipper over the ballet flat with this sort of strange disclaimer, “You can also choose to have your Stubbs & Wootton monogramed [sic] with your initials in silver or 18 karat gold. Just keep in mind, you’ll need to tell the boy you meet post-Block Party your real name now, or at least one that begins with the same letter.” Today, Palermo wrote about London Fashion Week and hinted at “a few projects that you’ll be seeing and reading about soon.” Have you read the site yet? What do you think?

    How To Get Starpoints

    Преди 160 месеца 740 коментар(и)

    Hello stardoll!

Today I'll be giving you eight ways on how to get your maximum starpoints, as well as getting your 40 starcoins.

    1. Change at least a tiny bit of your suite so when you save it you get a starcoin, then kind of confirms whether or not it counts.

    2. Redo your medoll, which is probably one of the main ones to show that you are active, doing it more then once probably won't do anything extra though.

    3. Write a blog post! Starcoins for this as well.

    4. Do an extra page of your album! This always helps, if you run out of pages, why not try and uplevel the cover? Or one that might need more work.

    5. Make a scenery, this is important as well, you don't get starcoins, but it will help if your aiming for your 12 starpoints a day.

    6. Do anything else that is fashion related, or just is fun! Send a message to a friend, or dress up a celebrity!

    7. Vote covergirl, album, scenery whatever you want! 5/5 to 1/5, either way it will still be getting you starcoins and starpoints!

    8. Do anything else starcoin related, just getting you 40/40 starcoins a day might get you your starpoints, but of course stardoll don't judge it on that! Because if you get loads of friend requests, accepting ten won't get your all of the starpoints!

I hope this helped if you want to get closer to the next reward!

Spotted: Gwen Stefani wearing some of Fall's hottest trends: plaid and menswear! The plaid blazer, flat cap, baggy trousers, and boots are all so great, but to add some femininity to the look Gwen added some bright red lipstick! It's just so perfect.

BTW: We're all for plaid blazers this Fall, and if you're looking for the perfect one check out the one at H&M! Wouldn't it be perfect over a chambray shirt or over a little black dress with a pair of boots? Love!

    Lady Gaga is Greedy!

Lady Gaga is channeling her inner greed by dressing in green and wearing a hat covered in dollar signs. We get the message, Gaga! But we'll admit, she looks a bit like The Riddler from Batman, right?

We spotted Rosario Dawson wearing this gorgeous blue Diane Von Furstenberg dress on the red carpet a few months ago, and we loved it! And just a few days ago we saw Leona Lewis wearing the same dress to a birthday party! What's a red carpet dress for one person is a great birthday bash outfit for another! But the question is, who wore it best?

We love how Leona chose a bold look with her daring red lipstick, whereas Rosario went for a more natural look. We also loved Leona's glamorous Hollywood waves, so dramatic! She really went all out and looked divine! Rosario's natural look was pretty, but she could of stepped it up a bit! Vote for who you think wore it best!

Marc Jacobs staged what many believe to be his last show for Louis Vuitton in the courtyard of the Louvre in Paris this morning. Like last season, Kate Moss closed the show—”I have an attitude about being consistent,” he said—but the similarities ended there. Instead of handcuffs and latex bondage-like dresses, his models wore poufy light frocks with 60s details like floral appliques and faded pastel panels with white heels and ladylike purses. The show itself was set on a carousel, “I’m a hopeless New Yorker Franco-phile,” he said. But the big question was, of course, whether or not this really would be his last show for Vuitton. Though reporters were forbidden from asking about the rumors, Jacobs did drop a few hints. The Telegraph caught him on camera saying, “I could never do this anywhere else. Not just the Paris thing, Vuitton allows me…” before trailing off. He also mentioned, regarding Kate, “We’re going to consistently close the show with Kate Moss,” which suggest future Vuitton shows. He also said, regarding the success of Vuitton’s ready-to-wear collection, “It’s really something I feel particularly proud of.” So really, we’re no closer to knowing the answer. Paris fashion week has come and gone and there’s still no word who will take over at Dior. But given the critical reaction to Jacobs’ spring collection for Louis Vuitton, his staying put wouldn’t be the worst outcome. Click here to see all of the spring collections!

    Under the Sea

Come spring, designers draw inspiration from florals, forests and sometimes surf, but for 2012 a handful dove deeper—to the bottom of the ocean floor. Though not all were as literal as Chanel, which turned the Grand Palais into a whitewashed aquarium, the sea made its way into at least four collections. Lagerfeld used pearls on almost every look and turned conch shells into evening clutches (how has no one thought to do that before?!) while Sarah Burton infused waves, jellyfish and sea anemones into most of her collection for Alexander McQueen. At Versace, above left, Donatella was more playful. She printed purple starfish and blue seahorses onto hot pants and shift dresses or studded starfish shapes onto leather bodices. And lastly, at Givenchy, Riccardo Tisci took that mermaid inspiration that Lagerfeld was so disinterested in and turned it into something quite attractive: scuba-like pants, dresses with fins and jackets layered over silk to look like waves.
