My name is João, I am 18 years old and I am Brazilian. I attend Fashion Design College and I'm in the fourth semester. I love singing, dancing, drawing and writing. I am StarBlogger of Brazil and a blogger outside of Stardoll as well. My mother tongue is Brazilian Portuguese, but I am trying to learn English and Spanish (and I am at the beginning of learning French and Italian). Stardoll introduced me to the world of fashion and influenced my chosen university major. Stardoll has always helped me express myself through outfits, Suites, and design...
Tell us about your Stardoll Journey!
I found Stardoll thanks to a childhood friend who played it during computer class at school. My journey begun around the end of the year 2010 and it was one of the best things in my life to be able to share and learn new things with the people I love here.
I've played Stardoll for nine years and my account will soon be 8 years old, I am very excited for this commemorative date. I took a two year hiatus from Stardoll to focus on my life, and when I returned, I picked up where I left off. If I could change something on Stardoll, it would be so that all players, with respect and love, expressed their opinions respectfully in order to create an environment that pleases everyone and is totally free of cyberbullying.
Tell us more about your background and cultural interests!
Stardoll is very popular in Brazil. In 2011, most Brazilian children and teenagers seemed to play on the site. When I meet Portuguese dolls, I realized how different our shared language really is!
The Brazilian Portuguese is spoken in a more "sung and melodic" way and some words of Portuguese from Portugal are considered offensive in Brazil.
Brazil has an immense variety of dialects and it seems that in each statem we are in a different country. In relation to our culture, most people know the "Carnival" of Rio de Janeiro, with parade cars and people with a lot of brilliance in the body, but we have the festivals of the North: the "Boi-Bumbá", the "Festa Junina" very strong in the Northeast, the festivals of European origin in the South and a lot of diversity in the Southeast and Midwest of the country.
Brazil is the melting pot of countless nationalities and is always ready to welcome one more.
Any advice you’d like to share with our readers?
In a time when powerful people think of building walls and prohibit the entry of refugees, we must make bridges and welcome all those who need help. Be gentle with all the people here, perhaps she's starting her life in a new country and you, as a virtual friend, can help her more than you can imagine.
