Original Future BrittanyDesigns Q&A!

för 50 månader sedan

Hi Dolls!

As pictured above, last week's Original Future release left me and many others gagging-- in my case, with tons of excitement and joy -- while others met it with a salty reception. I thought this release was adorable, ironic, and KITSCHY: in a good way! I really appreciated that SD staff is funny enough to poke fun at their own loading issues and glitches by supporting one of their very own member's designs. We all stan a good sense of humor, right? My picks include the "ERRORings" and the rest of the "You're not authorized to see this design" items. I guess I've got a soft spot for novelty stuff, as a self proclaimed virtual hoarder who has nothing but ideas to burn on rooms.

"The Original Future collection comes straight from an upcoming designer who has a deep connection with Stardoll! The collection brings a mix of pastels, pixels and popping color."

If you haven't figured it out by now, that very designer happens to be Brittzay! If you're interested in getting to know the amazing person behind this Stardoll, then be sure to click here to read her StarBlog Diaries featured post. I was able to sit and ask Brittany about her collaborations so do read on...

Tell us about your experience creating your graduation collection!

"My focus of the collection was exploring ways to use digital technologies for creative expression, particularly for modern-day youth, as we have likely been creatively influenced by technology from growing up alongside it.

Each look of the real-life collection contain a different form of digital technology being used. The jacket, mask and dungaree have light-up elements that glow and flash in the dark. The vest has pockets to slip a phone and tablet into, where you can play a video or draw to make your own custom design. Then the large rainbow box was actually an old CRT computer monitor that was turned into a head accessory. My focus behind all of these concepts was that they were both customizable and affordable for youth, so others can use these concepts to create their own new fashion if they desire."

Can you share any details about what it has been like to work with Stardoll in creating videos, and collaborating your own Original Future release?

Brittzay: "I’ve been making videos with Stardoll for quite a few years now as a side project between my fashion studies. Stardoll is such an expansive website that it’s difficult to discover dolls in different areas of the community, and our hope is that the Social Recap series can help showcase the incredible work they create and ideas to share.

I make the videos in my own time, the community in return inspires me to create and appreciate the diversity and subjectivity of fashion. I might have finished my fashion studies, but I still have a lot to learn about the fashion industry, whether it be in reality or the virtual world, and Stardoll helps me learn that in a different way.

It's been amazing to see how dolls style up the items from the Original Future collection so differently from how I envisioned the designs. It's something that aspiring designers dream about to see in reality, and to have received that experience on Stardoll is very exciting.

As the collection itself is pretty loud and experimental, I fully understand that it is not to everyone’s tastes and I respect that completely. It has been a wonderful experience and I am grateful for the feedback and support that has become of it!"

Congratulations on your many accomplishments and milestones Brittany! We are rooting for all of your dreams to come true, and thank you for all you've done for the community.
