Making Ethical Dietary Choices
Changing the way you eat is a big decision, and it is important to think carefully before committing to anything drastic. That said, you can actually help the environment and animals if you choose what you eat carefully - if how you're eating currently doesn't quite sit right with you, here are a few alternatives.
Vegetarianism
Becoming a vegetarian means stopping eating meat. If you are a big animal lover, this lifestyle could be for you! For me personally, I feel like when I look at a cow or a chicken, I don't see dinner - I see a cute animal that deserves to have a happy life just as much as I do! I encourage you to think for yourself and decide if you feel okay with eating animals or not.Veganism
Vegans do not eat any animal products - that means no meat, milk, or dairy! The origin of this choice was to stop exploiting animals for food, but modern dairy cows and egg laying chickens are often treated very badly. This, along with the fact that dairy causes a large percentage of climate change, makes a pretty good case for this dietary choice!Important Note
Remember, if you want to change your diet, you need to make sure that it is your choice. Don't let anyone force you into any particular die t- it's up to you! All I ask is that you consider the ethics of how you eat, and decide whether or not you're okay with that. If you don't fit into the meat eater/vegetarian/vegan box, that's okay - it's okay to be no milk pescatarian if that's what fits your ethics!Make sure you consult with your doctor and do your research before any change in your diet. You need to ensure you get all the vitamins you need!
