In the upcoming posts I'll be sharing my advice and takes on royal fashion for you to wear and feel like a Princess or a Queen!

So, let's say a Royal is visiting  a fair, a museum or any other site of interest or charity event. They would want to wear something bright, as the colors will make them stand out in the crowd. Queen Elizabeth II is a master in this aspect, always wearing monochromatic outfits so the well-wishers and everyone can spot her and be able to say, "I saw the queen!" The first outfit is inspired by Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, who is also a well-known lover of monochromatic outfits. I went for a hot pink ensemble with jewels in different colored stones and a pair of shoes and clutch in a slightly darker tone for contrast.

The second outfit, inspired by the late Princess Diana, would be perfect to wear on a wedding because it has it all: The hat, the vibrant colors, common in royal weddings and the pomp. In British tradition, a hat is always required when attending weddings. Royals are known for sticking to protocol and tradition, and it is traditional to wear your head covered inside a church. If you chose not to wear one, you may be frowned upon. When attending, royals wear their best, as royal weddings get a lot of media coverage, and their outfits are out there to be judged. Princess Eugenie and Beatrice have suffered from this when they attended the royal wedding of the now Duke and Duchess back in 2011 with their questionable outfits.

And the third outfit, full black, is the one royals should NEVER forget to pack when going abroad on tour. When Princess Elizabeth's father King George VI died, she didn't pack a black oufit for her tour to Kenya. Upon arrival, the plane stopped and her staff brought a black outfit in and she stepped out of the plane as Queen. With it, she wore the Flame Lily brooch, a gift from the tour and the brooch that started her 67 year old reign. Black is the color of mourning,  so royals reserve it for somber occasions such as funerals and Remembrance day, so wearing head-to-toe black out of those occasions is not advised. 

Next we have this Navy and black combo, which is a color combination Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex opts for quite regularly, specially for formal occasions such as RAF Anniversary Service, business meetings with the charities she works with, Trooping the Color and so on. I personally, would love to see her wearing more pastels or any other color in general. This outfit is inspired by Queen Letizia of Spain who like Meghan, also opts for darker tones for important occasions. I added my touch with the pearls and the brooch, something Queen Letizia very rarely wears. I think brooches are the perfect assessory to finish an outfit. Then we have this purple outfit, which screams Queen Elizabeth. 

As mentioned before, she wears bright colors to be easily spoted, and her long coats and dresses usually have that clean neckline with a slight puffiness on the seams. Her hat usually is of the same color as the dress/coat, or sometimes it can contrast in color but feature something in the same shade as the dress, such as flowers, bows or feathers. Usually her brooches match the color too, but sometimes she opts for pearl brooches specially in audiences at the palace because pearls go with anything. She also wears the same 3 strand of pearls necklace, given to her by her father, and Queen Mary's button earrings. She calls it her work clothes. And she's right. As queen, her job outfit is the bright-colored long coats, hats and pearls. If you check her off duty, you'd see she doesn't wear anything like that at all.

The last outfit is again, inspired by Queen Máxima, with the usual bright patterns and contrasting colors. She is the best when dressing because she manages to respect the protocol: looking proper, fresh, and modest and still look modern and elegant while having some fun in her own way. She's my favorite when it comes to outfits because she's literally the only royal who isn't afraid of experimenting and abusing the "I'm the Queen, I wear what I want" card. Well played. She's the true definition of elegance. She takes monochromatic outfits to another level. To dress like her, all you have to do is pick something unusual, but modest, and rock it.
