Crossovers are not uncommon in the entertainment industry. We’ve seen singing sensations like Justin Timberlake and Beyonce successfully merge onto the acting scene. And we’ve seen actors and actresses dabble in singing careers (Zooey Deschanel, Scarlett Johansson, and Selena Gomez to name a few). It seems there’s a new sensation on the rise though, and that’s the transition from the catwalk to Boardwalk. Models are trying their hand at this part of showbiz and doing quite well.
Rosie Huntington-Whitely, pictured above, is the most recent model to have starred in a major box-office smash with her role in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Huntington-Whitely is a famed Victoria’s Secret model since her 2006 debut for the lingerie line.

Sasha Pivovarova could possibly be following in Huntington-Whitely’s steps with a minor role in Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried’s newest flick, In Time. Pivovarova, a famous Russian model, is well-known for her work with Prada.

Brooklyn Decker has had a long and tenured modeling career. She has been featured in photo shoots for many magazines and more notably has graced the cover of the swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated. Her acting roles have been minor for the most part, making guest appearances on several TV shows but she did star in the Adam Sandler comedy, Just Go With It.

Cameron Diaz dominates the silver screen in almost every movie she’s in. We first caught a glimpse of this talented lady when she starred opposite Jim Carrey in The Mask. Little did we know, Diaz had already been modeling for magazines and even Calvin Klein!

OK, so maybe she’s old enough to be our mom, but we still recognize beauty when we see it! Shields remains one of the first women to have started her career as a child model, but her work at that age was nothing short of adult. She, too, was a Calvin Klein poster child with the famous campaign tagline, “You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing.” But now she has starred on Lipstick Jungle and recently made her debut in the Broadway musical, The Addams Family.

Tyra Banks is literally everywhere we look. If she’s not on a billboard for America’s Next Top Model, she’s on one for her talk show, Tyra. Sometimes we even forget that her roots are in modeling. She started young (11th grade!) and toured the world’s runways to become a renowned model.

Milla Jovovich is one of those “jack of all trades.” She began her industry career modeling and has done campaigns for Banana Republic, Christian Dior, and Mercedes-Benz. But after this portion of her life, she delved into acting with films like The Fifth Element and the Resident Evil series. What’s more is that she co-created Jovovich-Hawk, her very own clothing line. And she’s recorded an album! Whew!

And of course, who can forget Heidi Klum? Her life started out with modeling as the focus in her appearances for Victoria’s Secret. Now the mogul is well-known for her show Project Runway, her cameos in television and film alike, and is a producer. We can hardly keep up!
This leaves us wondering, which model do you think will dive into the acting world next?
