It comes as no surprise that Michelle Trachtenberg made an appearance at New York Fashion Week: she is on the fabulously fashionable show Gossip Girl after all. What is interesting is that we caught Michelle front row at the Rebecca Taylor show, who is a good friend of Michelle’s, and received a tip-off about a possible future collaboration between the two. “She and I are actually going to be doing a collaboration in the future. Probably a capsule collection. Not the near future because these things take time, but that’s really exciting. I mean, she’s the epitome of girly glam; she’s sophisticated and romantic. It’s pretty much the only thing you want to wear on a date,” said Michelle Trachtenberg. A capsule collection that’s a mix between Rebecca Taylor’s girly glam and Michelle’s rock chic style? In her latest flick Easy A, Emma Stone rocks a red “A” on her chest to proudly portray a modern Hester Prynne from The Scarlett Letter. Though it didn’t fare favorably for her in the film, the rosy color is working wonders for the 22-year old on the red carpet. Stone wore a two-toned Lanvin spring 2011 dress ( see it on the runway) with a one-shouldered coral bodice and a cranberry floor-length skirt to last night’s BAFTA Awards. A leather belt lends structure to the flowy dress, while touches of gold from her accessories and jewelry pull the look together beautifully. Stone was up for the Orange Rising Star Award against Gemma Arterton, Andrew Garfield, Aaron Johnson, and Tom Hardy, who took home the award. Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the sisters behind the brand, have launched Rodarte for Opening Ceremony, a capsule collection of womenswear, menswear and accessories.Although the duo previously designed sweaters and t-shirts for the retailer’s Fashion’s Night Out events, this marks the first full partnership between the two masters of youthful cool. Turtlenecks aren’t just for librarians and Roger Moore these days. The classic look can be spotted coming back with a vengeance in pre-fall and fall 2011. Lanvin’s ladies-who-lunch interpretation went back to the garment’s more conservative roots, complementing an oversized wool coat and leggings. Meanwhile, the former queen of Studio 54 Diane von Furstenberg used her retro tops like scarves, poking out of jackets and shirtdresses to add a pop of bright green or maroon. But it was BCBG who progressed past the overtones of matrons and ’70s scenesters. They layered the entire fall 2011 collection (gowns included) over skin-fitting, white turtlenecks. Not only did this give the show a sleek, sophisticated feeling, but this styling technique also highlights an effortless way to transition an outfit from day-to-evening. If you can part with the newest addition to your wardrobe, that is.
