ELLE’s Fashion News Editor, Nick Axelrod, is hanging out in Miami this week for Art Basel (or what we affectionately refer to as Miami Fashion Week) and he stumbled across this tapestry by Willem Oorebeek. The Belgium-based, Netherlands-born designer turns magazine images into lavish tapestries via Paris’ Gobelin tapestry factory. This particular one, called “More ELLE ELLE” lives at the Robert Miller gallery on 524 West 26 St. (when it’s not vacationing in Florida). Or it can live in your house, if you’ve got a spare $35,000.

Last night, Stella McCartney threw her annual Christmas bash on Bruton Street. As always, loads of British celebs packed into the designer’s flagship boutique in honor of the holiday lights being lit. Kate Moss was there with her daughter Lila Grace as well as Paul McCartney, Bob Geldof and Pam Hogg. Jennifer Saunders, aka Edina Monsoon from Absolutely Fabulous, did the lighting honors with Emma Bunton, whom you may know as Baby Spice. The odd pair are gearing up for the hugely anticipated return of AbFab, hitting UK televisions next month, and were eager to toast their most fashionable guest star yet—Stella! The designer told the Telegraph, “It’s not exactly my idea of fun, but it’s Ab Fab, and how can you say no to Ab Fab ? I’m sure I’ll be terrifying, but, you know.” Fingers crossed a clip hits stateside before the year is out.

The love between Anne Hathaway and Valentino Garavani’s lasted longer than most Hollywood relationships. The two hooked up around the time she made The Devil Wears Prada and since then, she’s sat front row at his shows (including his last runway show) worn Valentino on numerous red carpets and appeared on his arm to a number of events. When she announced her engagement to Adam Shulman earlier this week, there was little speculation about who’d make her wedding dress, because Valentino’s the obvious choice. But before that happens, she’ll do him a favor, hosting next week’s press conference for the designer’s impressive virtual museum. It’s shaping up to be the fanciest press conference we’ve ever heard of. On top of Hathaway‘s role as host, Franca Sozzani will give a speech as well as Amit Sood, the creator of Google’s Art Project. The conference will be livestreamed on YouTube this Monday morning at 11AM EST. Wednesday’s party, however, is shaping up to be a bit more intimate.

If you’re following the Brits on Twitter—ELLE UK, Net-a-porter, The Business of Fashion—you know that the British Fashion Awards have just wrapped up in London. The night’s big winner was Alexa Chung, who beat Kate Middleton for the publicly chosen British Style Award. Chung wore a Christopher Kane shift and Charlotte Olympia shoes to accept her award. Both designers were honored, too; Kane was given the New Establishment award and Charlotte Dellal was named Accessory Designer of the Year. Marc Jacobs, who’s having a bit of a rough month, presented Victoria Beckham with the award for Designer Brand of the Year, not to be confused with Designer of the Year, which went to Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen. While Americans prepared for the Thanksgiving holiday, Tel Aviv kicked off its first official fashion week at the Hatachana pavilion in Neve Tzedek with two dozen shows and a special guest appearance by Italian designer Roberto Cavalli, who re-staged his spring 2012 show. The mixed bag—offering everything from cut up fetishistic tee shirts to belly dancers—verged on caricature at times. The local spice, however, failed to distract from the (mostly) serious designers. We spotted four who have what it takes to break out of the Mediterranean enclave in the coming year:

Stella McCartney‘s name is pretty high up there on the list of designers going above and beyond the call of winter/spring collection duty. She’s just had her third child and is busy designing uniforms for the UK’s Olympic team, all while working hard on her summer collection as well as producing a special one off collection to be shown at London Fashion Week in February.

A look inside Valentino's new digital museum.
Valentino, the man, not the brand, has just announced his newest project: the Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum. The app, which one can download onto a computer, tablet or phone, offers an intimate look at Valentino’s archives. Nearly 5,000 images spanning almost 50 years show dresses, sketches, photographs and videos of 95 fashion shows. The app is designed to make you feel like you’re walking through a proper museum exhibition, with 3D technology and a sky above your head.

Lady Gaga’s holiday workshop finally opened inside Barneys at midnight last night. To celebrate, she wore a custom made Chanel gown that wouldn’t look inappropriate walking down a royal aisle. The white tweed dress resembled a jacket on top before exploding into a full skirt. It was accessorized with pearl, bows and camelias—just in case it wasn’t quite clear it came from the house of Chanel. The look was quite conservative for Gaga and very fitting for the evening’s festivities. Click through for a closer look, as well as Lagerfeld’s sketch of the gown.

The 92nd Street Y’s just announced the rest of their “Fashion Icons With Fern Mallis” series. The fashion consultant, and former head of IMG Fashion, will start recording the conversations for her new Sirius radio show, called “Fashion Insiders With Fern Mallis.” At the Y, Donna Karan’s up first, on January 12, then Tommy Hilfiger on March 8th,Tom Ford on May 8th and finally Michael Kors on June 6th. On the radio show, which will broadcast last month’s interview with Calvin Klein on the 26th at 7PM, Mallis will welcome a more diverse roster of guests, people like Ken Downing, Mickey Drexler, Jay Alexander, Jenna Lyons and a variety of magazine editors. She told WWD, “There is a lot of interest in fashion right now but many people really don’t understand how it works. They might not know somebody has to teach a model how to walk on a runway. So this will. Manufacturers have to make the clothes. Editors write the reviews. I always thought that my job was about celebrating that.” Tickets for the 92nd St. Y talks will go on sale early next week.
