Last Night’s Parties: Uptown Art & Downtown Studs

With fashion week comes fashion parties and judging from last night’s crowd, the industry was in need of some stress relief. Believe it or not, last night’s soiree circuit started uptown at Phillips de Pury for Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld and Andy Valmorbida’s Richard Hambleton retrospective. Thanks to the event’s other host—Giorgio Armani—many swans showed up to show off their best Armani pieces while circulating between two floors full of Hambleton’s work. The artist, who’s been called “the godfather of street art,” proved tempting enough to attract guests like Lauren Hutton, Karolina Kurkova, Bar Refaeli, Caroline Winberg and Doutzen Kroes, not to mention a downtown contingent including Theodora Richards in a barely-there catsuit, Alexa Chung in a quirky-cool dress with a cut-out neck, and Sky Ferrerira’s psychedelic frock.
Next, the party headed down to M1-5 to celebrate Nicola Formichetti’s pop-up shop. The dark lighting invited downtown dudes to show off their fashion week finery: draped, studded black clothing and backwards caps were de rigeur. Screens displayed sultry images from Mugler’s shows, as well as the brand’s fragrance imagery while rocker Jessica 6 got the crowd going with her performance. Anouck Lepere popped up at the end of night, to inject a dose of pretty into the crowd with her Olivier Theyskens dress. Her thoughts on fashion week so far? “I liked that Marc Jacobs moved his show because of the hurricane. I’m curious what he’s going to do.” In the meantime, the mode’s busy doing good deeds: “I’m working with a charity called Kageno.org. I’ve been doing jewelry with them,” she said, showing off a cool, artisan bracelet done in collaboration with Repossi. (You can check out the collection here.)
We hear tonight’s Alexander Wang party will be frat-themed…check back tomorrow for a full report!
