Today I'm talking about a very popular trend: Instagram makeup.

Instagram makeup is a style of makeup that includes applying a full-coverage foundation, generous highlighter, contour and bronzer, thick, defined eyebrows, smoky eye makeup, dramatic eyeliner (usually a wing), false eyelashes and generally a matte lip. Think Kylie Jenner.

It's completely different from editorial makeup. Editorial makeup is used a lot in magazines. This particular style uses a not-as-thick foundation, and has a very clear focus. It might be the eyes, lips, eyebrows, skin etc. But the focus is always clear. It looks more natural than Instagram makeup, and is also easier and quicker to apply. Think Lily Collins.

Both looks are popular, and there is an argument going on between the artists. The argument is this: editorial makeup artists think Instagram makeup goes overboard in makeup application, while Instagram makeup artists say that editorial makeup is too boring and simple.
