Prom is one of the few school-sponsored activities we look forward to not for weeks or months, but for years. And we’re bound to remember it for years, too: the endless photo-taking all but guarantees it. The Disney movie Prom follows a group of high-schoolers and the drama, excitement, and nerves that lead up to the big night. For Lucas, played by the singing, dancing, crush-worthy Nolan Sotillo, the approaching event is particularly nerve-wracking. He has a mega-crush on Simone, but can’t seem to work up the confidence to ask her to go with him. We chatted with Nolan about how nervous he gets in real life about asking girls out, his on-set best friends, and where we can look forward to seeing him next.

While prom’s a night when an ordinary girl slips on an elegant gown, it’s actually not that simple. Prom means so much more than the dress. It’s the flowers, the hair, the makeup, and the date. It’s that last hurrah before you finish your life as a high schooler and move onto an adult-like life (well, as adult-like as college can be, anyway). So when Disney released Prom this year, thousands of girls tuned in to see their dreams portrayed on-screen. We were lucky enough to chat with Yin Chang, the young star who plays Mei, a senior torn between her boyfriend and her ideal college. Yin gave us the nitty-gritty about her high school experience (including her own prom), her advice for teen girls, and how waiting for the right guy is better than floating from boy to boy.

- We are only two weeks away from fashion week, and things are definitely starting to get a little crazy. It’s especially crazy with the deadlines for production orders coming up in addition to getting everything in place for the show and the Spring ’12 samples. I have literally made the production office my home, and I just camped out there so I could run out and get things as they are needed. Luckily, they have Wi-Fi so I was able to keep up on emails and show info in between running around midtown. That night we had a going away party for one of our summer interns who’s heading back to school, which makes reality hit that the summer’s actually coming to an end. I really can’t believe how much it has flown by; when we started getting ready for the show at the beginning of June it seemed like we had all the time in the world, and now we are only two weeks away…ekkk!! That said, with all the work we still have to do for our show, we didn’t want all of Molly’s (our intern) hard work to go unnoticed and wanted to throw a small get together in her appreciation.

Big chunky sweaters may be the last thing on your mind with the remnants of the summer sun still beaming down your neck, but with back-to-school shopping winding down all we can think about is keeping warm, and chic, of course. Enter the snug-fit sweater dresses. Alexander Wang is the purveyor of making simplicity into big-statement silhouettes, like his yellow sweater dress above. Wang’s interpretation of the gray winter sweater dress included an elevated fur collar, bubble sleeves, and an ombre satin finish at the hem—genius design. Phillip Lim took a similar route in transforming a classic sweater dress into something more interesting, but unlike Wang, Lim played with color. Lim’s bold green sweater dress is sure to stand out in a mob of dark fall palettes. And besides, who doesn’t want to play with color? Here’s how you can cozy up this fall:

- The last couple days have been crazy to say the least: between dealing with all the work for the production of the show, the samples for the Spring ’12 season, and all the orders for the Fall ’11 season, it seems as though there is never enough time in the day. My office has really been at the factory this week because between supervising the production and making sure all the Spring samples come in correctly. I spend my day constantly running around the garment district. It seems like we are always running out of some fabric or there in confusion in one note or another. So on nights like tonight I am at the studio until well past midnight catching up on emails and work that I wasn’t able to get accomplished during the crazy day. New York City is great, especially for my business with everything at your finger tips, however days like the past few have definitely make me appreciate when I am able to be in CT and work from one desk. I always make sure to work at least one day during the work week from my apartment in CT otherwise I would never be able to stay on top of emails. Unfortunately that day was Monday so there is no slowing down for the rest of this week…

- When we heard that OPI’s Holiday 2011 Collection was in fact a Muppets line, we nearly didn’t believe it. But OPI has done it again and will be debuting their Muppets collection this December. And it totally just made us fall in love with them all over again. With names like “Warm and Fozzy,” “Fresh Frog of Bel Air,” and “Meep Meep Meep,” it’s pretty hard not to-especially when their following in the steps of their fabulous ‘Miss Universe’ Collection. Can’t wait to see Miss Piggy, Kermit, and the rest of the gang in full action for OPI. Here’s a sneak peak for what’s in store:
