CC Interview On Stardoll!
CC took time out of her busy schedule to answer a bunch of awsome questions!
What inspired you to write SuperStar Girl?
The track was originally called Rock n Roll Girl, and then I was introduced to Stardoll, and it just suited it so much, so I changed the chorus to be "I'm a Superstar Girl in a Stardoll World". I am totally in love with Stardoll. After playing on the site the first time, I was hooked. When I first moved to America last year I really wanted to write a fun pop song about moving away from home and leaving behind all your friends, and just being so excited to be in a new place. LA is so big I need my GPS to navigate around and I love going shopping on my credit card too, so all that went into the song. The lyrics are basically about being ready for success, and being seduced and excited by the glitz and glam, "It's my turn now, it's my turn!"
What is your favorite activity on Stardoll?
I really love going shopping in Starplaza! If only I had all the clothes my doll had in real life! Hopefully one day!! It is the best way to create a personal scrapbook of what fashions you are really looking for in real life, because Stardoll always has the latest and coolest clothes!
How long have you been writing and performing music?
Since I was in High School. I wrote my first song ever on a family road trip holiday, and I it was so cool to discover that I could write lyrics. Then when I went to boarding school, I was in an all-girl band called Venus In Warpaint. I was the bass player and backing vocalist. In university I got into rap, and released a pop/rock/hip hop album in Australia and New Zealand called "All The Way"
What are your Musical Influences?
I really listen to all kinds of music. It depends what mood I’m in. At the moment I’m listening to a lot of party-rock hip-hop/electro bands that I’m discovering in LA, like LMFAO and Far East Movement.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to go out to the movies. Sometimes I’ve seen so many movies I have to wait until the new batch of new releases hits cinemas! I also love to chill at home and watch TV series with friends, cook dinner together, read a book or magazine in bed on a weekend and not get up till noon. I like to exercise too, once I’m doing it, but I’m going through a lazy phase, it takes a bit to get me to Yoga at the moment!
How would you describe your own Personal Style?
I’m constantly trying to define what my style really is. I think it is an ongoing thing. My sister was kind of my unofficial stylist for years, we used to raid each others closet a lot, but I don’t live with her at the moment so I can’t do that anymore I like to mix vintage stuff with more expensive things. I love wearing dresses, and being a girl- I love to get all dressed up to go out. I think now I try and dress in cuts and colors that suit me, whereas as I used to be attracted to things that might be in fashion, and look good on a model with super long legs, but didn’t look good on me... I hardly ever really “go shopping”, but instead I am constantly on the lookout for hot stuff and if I see something that I love, I buy it.
What do you love most about your Home Town?
My hometown is Melbourne, Australia. It is an absolutely beautiful city visually. I really love it because there is so much life there. There is the beach, clubs, music, and some of the best restaurants and bars in the world. The streets are also covered in awesome graffiti stencils by really famous artists. It’s a cool place. Melbourne is a really arty city. Australians are pretty chilled people, but at the same time very focused and passionate about whatever they do. I also love Melbourne because it is where most of my friends and family live and they are a big part of my life and my heart.
What is something that people might not know about you?
Hmmm… well. I have a fake front tooth! Haha. You wouldn’t know because obviously I have had it fixed! My friend accidently kicked it out at my 10th birthday party doing a handstand.
Wow, You have worked with some famous Artists. What have those experiences taught you?
Working with different producers is always a new experience and a new challenge, but one thing that they all have in common is how they just squeeze the best out of you. Like if I am doing a vocal take and it’s not as good as it could be, they make me do it again. Same with lyrics that I write, when I show whomever I’m working with my ideas, there is usually a step that I have to go back and re-write something. It’s a process; you can’t be too precious about it. You just have to let ideas flow and you can usually tell straight away when you’re onto something good.
What would you like to say to Stardoll Gals out there?
Just Do What You Do. Be What You Are. Try and find in your heart what you enjoy doing (usually it’s something that you are doing already to some degree) and just go for it and believe in it. It’s so much better to try and fail than to not try at all. Eventually you get closer to where you wanna go if you just take it one thing at a time and not let the big picture overwhelm you or discourage you.
Thanks CC!
