Thank You, Seriously
I want to thank Stardoll for taking my idea for a Stardoll Blackout and turning it into something much larger than I ever imagined. When I had submitted the blog post requesting the blackout, I was overwhelmed by everything. Stardoll is often my escape from 'real life', but I couldn't distract myself this time. I was reminded that Stardoll, though a virtual game, is still a community with real people. Dudes, you guys are breathing humans, haha. A difference can be made here just as much as on any other online platform.
My second thank you is extended to all of you. I have visited countless dolls who were dressed in black, whose presentations stated information on anti-racism organizations, who created Black Lives Matter posters and sold them at discounted prices, and who have showed me nothing but support in my guestbook, on my blog posts, and in clubs. Thank you. You don't know how much this means to the entire black community on Stardoll.
Lastly...
To the users who were using the BLM and Blackout campaigns to run for contests, such as CoverGirl and Scenery: I have visited a lot of you. And I know that your hearts were not in the right place. From the moment that you typed "Black Lives Matter. Vote for me for CG to make a change," you should have stopped to think about what you were doing. None of your presentations had any information on how to make a change in society. I even saw someone TURN THEIR DOLL BLACK to run for Best Scenery under the BLM movement. This was poor behavior and I do hope that you rethink your decisions in the future.
Remember to show love and kindness to those around you. Remember to stand up for the rights of minorities and the underprivileged. This world is far from perfect, but as long as there is love, we will be alright.
