Y2K Glam
Every season brings new fashion trends, often referencing style from previous decades. We have seen the '60s on the Moschino Fall 2018 runway, the '70s become a signature at Gucci, the '80s referenced at Tom Ford Fall 2018, and the '90s referenced at Versace. While these decades (and older) continue to inspire fashion, the 2000s have made a comeback over recent years. To name a few, Adam Selman, Namilia and Gypsy Sport have all referenced the decade in their runway shows. For this blog post, I have decided to style some glam outfits inspired by the 2000s!
Starting with my first two outfits, I was inspired by '00s icon Paris Hilton! For my first outfit, I styled this glittery mini dress with a fur stole over one shoulder, a staple choker and simple heels. Novelty bags were a big trend during the '00s, so this Alexander Wang purse is a perfect way to complete the outfit. You could swap the heels for a pair of platforms, and add some rhinestone hair slides. With my second outfit, I went for a similar vibe, this time styling the mini dress with a pink fur coat, dainty pendant necklace and mini handbag. For an extra touch, I added a tiara!
For my next outfits, I was inspired by more of a '00s popstar look, inspired by the likes of Britney, Xtina and JLo. For my first outfit, I chose these incredible snakeskin pants, which are very reminiscent of something Xtina would wear! I styled them with another '00s staple, the draped halter neck top, a mini handbag and simple heels. To complete the outfit, I added a rhinestone choker and Baby Phat necklace. For my final outfit, I chose a pair of Baby Phat jeans, an iconic brand during the '00s. I styled them with a scarf print halter neck top, and for a JLo vibe, I added a fluffy cap, gold hoops and platforms.
