3 Ways To Wear... Denim
Denim is a classic fabric that you can keep in your wardrobe and will never be off-trend. It can fit anyone's style, whether you're a girly-girl or more masculine.
The first way to wear denim is probably my favourite, and that's double denim. It's a very 90's look, and has been seen on shows such as the Fresh Prince. I also get major flashbacks to Britney Spears and Justin Timerlake's American Music Awards (2001) outfit!! Personally, I prefer to wear double denim in the same shade, but it can be too much for some, so a subtler way to wear this look is by choosing two different shades, for example, a classic blue and black.
The next style takes inspiration from 90s Grunge, with muted and slouchy pieces. Although I have styled denim-on-denim again with the jacket and midi-skirt, an oversized parka would fit this look perfectly. You could even try distressing some pieces - frayed hems and ripped knees are very on trend. Finish off with items such as a holey sweater, plaid flannel shirt (or in my case, skirt) and chunky boots.
Last but not least, for this look, I was primarily inspired by Japanese street style, however, similar denim pieces were seen on Marc Jacobs' Spring 2016 catwalk. The style is DIY Denim, and what I love about this is that it is completely personal to you. Of course, you can buy ready customized items, but it's so much more fun to mess around and collect patches and pins that perfectly fit your look. Even though I have chosen quite kitsch and kawaii patches, if that's not your thing, you could try vintage enamel pins and brooches.
Which look is your favourite? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading!!
