Self-Affirmations

Lately I've been a little stressed out; balancing all the aspects of my life has been a bit much for me. When I get stressed, my mood gets really low and I'm pretty harsh on myself. I tell myself I wouldn't be this stressed if I just tried harder. I feel like everyone else is doing a better job than me, and compared to them I'm worthless.


Fortunately, I've learned how to handle a lot of these negative thoughts before they get out of hand. One way I calm myself down is with what I call self-affirmations - positive truths that will always apply to you, no matter what's going on in your life. I repeat them to myself until I realize how true they are.


A few of my self-affirmations are - 


It's okay that you're not perfect; no one is


It's okay to take time for yourself


This situation will be over soon


You have people who love you; they can help you


You're allowed to feel sad


You are strong; you will get through this


I've made these affirmations based on what I struggle with most, namely feeling like I'm not meeting someone else's expectations. If you want to create some affirmations for yourself, pick a simple phrase that contradicts the negative things you're thinking. Maybe you feel like no one likes you; your self-affirmation could be as simple as, "You have friends who care about you". With time, you can train your mind to calm down and set aside the negativity.
