Who: Michelle Williams
What: The Cinema Society and Nancy Gonzalez screening of Meek’s Cutoff in NYC
Wear: Chanel dress and Salvatore Ferragamo heels
Michelle Williams might have been confined to the long, full skirts of her period costume while filming the Western Meek’s Cutoff, but she went full-on contemporary for the red carpet last night. Sporting her signature pixie cut, the indie darling shed her typical vintage threads for a deceptively simple cream Chanel shift with black sequined cap sleeves, which she paired with minimalist black Ferragamo pumps. Whether she’s wearing retro or modern styles, Williams knows how to keep ahead on the best-dressed list. We’re guessing that she’ll make us look at those prairie bonnets in a whole new light.

Red is one of the hottest hair hues for spring. Unconventional as it may seem, the striking shade adds the right amount of kick to all the nudes and whites we saw on the runways. However, from a personal experience which resulted in half my head green and the other half orange, I highly recommend going to a professional to dye your hair red. Red is not only the rarest hair color, but also one of the finickiest colors to attempt unnaturally. So before braving the bold color, read on for the top factors to consider to get the best results.

Who: Keira Knightley
What: 2011 Jameson Empire Awards in London
Wear: Rodarte dress
Keira Knightley has had an exceptional few days! First, she celebrated her 26th birthday on Saturday, and the next day she accepted the Hero award at the Jameson Empire Awards in London. A celebratory Knightley added in her speech: “I’m well up for a birthday snog, so please come and find me at table 14!“ Of course, she looks every inch the quirky Brit star we love in a ruffled Rodarte dress. The nude color, ruffled tiers, and relaxed cut are soft and feminine. Yet the adorable shirt collar brings in a touch of menswear, and the sequins and cutout shoulders keep the look festive.

At last night’s New York premiere of Mildred Pierce, the HBO miniseries debuting next week, Kate Winslet wore Stella McCartney’s fall collection—the one that hit the runway of the Paris Opera two weeks ago and won’t hit stores until maybe July, probably August. Of course, it looked fantastic. Her new pixie cut was gently waved and pulled back, as if even it would detract from the sheer polka dotted panel running down Winslet’s side, but what we really want to know is, is this the same dress Natasha Poly wore down the runway? It’s longer on Winslet than it was on Poly, which points to yes, but as svelte as the actress is, she’s curvier than the Russian model (thank goodness) and it fits her like a glove. Do you think Stella made it special? Or it hopped from the runway into Winslet’s suitcase?

Despite a picture-perfect pixie cut and porcelain, childlike features, Mia Wasikowska is no pushover. The breakout star of 2010 took on memorable roles in Alice in Wonderland and The Kids Are All Right, and is currently on the big screen playing the uncompromising heroine of Jane Eyre. Wasikowska’s sartorial selections are just as bold, with youthful, futuristic looks by Rodarte, Proenza Schouler, and Burberry as perpetual favorites. Set to star in Gus Van Sant’s hotly anticipated Restless, it looks like she’ll be striking a pose for a long time to come. Check out some of our favorite looks after the jump!

From the swarm of street style photos that emerged on blogs and websites during Fashion month, it seems that the designers, models, and bloggers of the fashion world may be our latest celebrities, making street style photographers the latest aggressive paparazzi. The “bloggers walk” at fashion shows has become a complete madhouse as the dozens of photographers try and get the best shot of fashion set going to and coming from the shows. So why the sudden ubiquity and aggressiveness of these photographers? Imran Amed of Business of Fashion says, ”several street style bloggers told me confidentially that the competition is extremely fierce for getting the best photographs, which can then be sold on to global editions of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar each for as little as $200, but up to $1000 or more.” As the demand for fashion gets higher, the fashion world becomes more exclusive with fewer seats at runway shows, limited edition products, and invitation only events. What do you think? Are street style photographers our new paparazz

Who: Selena Gomez
What: The Late Show with David Letterman
Wear: Emilio Pucci dress
Selena Gomez headed over to the Ed Sullivan Theater yesterday for a guest appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman. The 18-year-old singer was promoting her new single “Who Says” from her upcoming third album, looking like a rock star in an elaborate Emilo Pucci minidress and zipper-detailed rossette pumps. With its graphic-print skirt, embellished leather bodice, and laced long-sleeved top, it’s a party dress if we ever saw one, but Gomez has good reason to celebrate: yesterday she confirmed her relationship with Justin Bieber. She says of his enraged and disappointed fans: ”It hurts, it really does. I don’t feel like I’m doing anything wrong. I’ve been best friends with him for a very long time. But I try not to focus on it. I have a strong family and great fans.” Catch her on Letterman tomorrow!

Who: Jessica Alba
What: Who What Wear dinner at Il Sole in West Hollywood
Wear: Proenza Schouler spring 2011 sequin top and skirt, Aperlai pumps
With husband Cash Warren in tow, Jessica Alba stepped out for the Who What Wear dinner at West Hollywood’s Il Sole last night. The 29-year old is in her second trimester with her second child and looks amazing. Always one to be a little daring with her wardrobe, the actress chose a neon green and orange sequin top and skirt from Proenza Schouler’s spring 2011 collection and black peep-toe pumps. She made the ensemble her own by pairing it with a leather jacket and black tights, completing the spunky downtown look we’ve come to know and love on Alba.

It’s cheating to call lace a trend—the fabric always pops up on runways, despite the season or the mood—but for AW11 designers got particularly creative with their use of lace. It ranged from the kinky, like at Louis Vuitton to the super sexy at Antonio Berardi. At Balenciaga, Nicolas Ghesquière managed to make it look punk, with wide-knit over leather pants, while at Theory, Olivier Theyskens offered sweet, floor length versions. Which will you wear next fall?
