Banana Republic was the first retail brand to hitch itself to the Mad Men craze.  Starting three years ago they’d fill their  windows with Don Draper-like suits and curve enhancing shifts in jewel toned colors, but this year—despite Mad Men‘s seemingly never ending hiatus—they’re one upping their enthusiasm for Sterling Cooper Draper Price. Janie Bryant, Mad Men‘s costume designer, has designed a capsule collection with Creative Director Simon Kneen; it includes men’s, women’s and accessories and hits stores in August.  “It’s so rewarding to help create a collection that will allow fans of the series to channel their own Mad Men style and take home fashionable items that are modern, not costume,” Bryant said.  Though men will get the chance to buy money clips and fedoras, women will choose from tailored trenches, bow-tie blouses, high-waisted skirts and leopard print accessories. As for the sequined jumpsuit Bryant recently wore to a Macys event, wouldn’t it look smashing on Betty Draper?  After all, the 70s are about to hit Madison Avenue.

    Who: Evan Rachel Wood

What: HBO True Blood premiere at ArcLight’s Cinerama Dome in Los Angeles on June 21

Wear: Dolce and Gabbana trouser suit, Jimmy Choo heels, Jack Vartanian jewelry

The season four premiere of True Blood had everyone’s interest piqued, but it may not have been to see what vampiric drama lies ahead. Instead, attendees were floored with the debut of Evan Rachel Wood’s striking new ‘do. The actress, who plays vampire queen Sophie-Anne in the series, debuted a daring pixie cut, styled into a soft pompadour. She accentuated the masculine look with a smoky gray Dolce and Gabbana trouser suit and vest with fire red suspenders but added edgy feminine touches with leopard print on the back side of the vest, Jack Vartanian jewelry, and sharp mesh Jimmy Choo heels.

Nicole Richie & Charlotte Ronson at last night's I Heart Ronson party.
    Photo: JCPenney

No one throw’s a fashion party quite like Charlotte Ronson.  The designer invited her most fashionable friends (all of them?) to the Roosevelt Hotel in LA last night ot fete her exclusive summer collection for JCPenney. The I Heart Ronson line, which launched in Spring 2009, turns up the heat for warmer weather with affordable frilly dresses and rompers, tasseled maxi dresses, lightweight denim, lace shorts, and printed tops fit for the style-savvy summer set. Ronson, sporting a striped linen dress from the latest collection, says she looked to the English countryside and picnics for inspiration. “There’s lots of gingham, florals and eyelet dresses—what I feel you want to wear in the summertime.” She adds, “Our line is always dress heavy; it’s just an outfit all in one.” The designer credits I Heart Ronson’s continued success to a firm grasp of her customer base—not to mention hard work and some serious multitasking skills. Ronson recently wrapped her latest collaboration with UNIQLO, is currently working on a new swimwear line with Shoshanna, and is prepping her eponymous spring collection in between. Inside the hotel’s Spare Room, sister Samantha Ronson DJ’d while Ronson supporters Jordana Brewster, Alice Eve, Nicky and Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, and Ashlee Simpson took advantage of the mini bowling alley. “I’m a big bowler; it’s fun!” boasted Nicky Hilton.  In between strikes they shopped “Charlotte’s Closet,” a merchandising fixture in JCPenney stores and “a window into the designer’s space.” I Heart Ronson retails for $18 to $72 and is sold exclusively through JCPenney.

    Photo: Terry Richardson

Us Weekly probably would’ve killed for this picture of Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux in New York last night, but Terry Richardson just posted it on his blog for free. It follows another image in which he says he’s with Jen and Justin after having dinner in Soho.

Photo: The New York Times Vanessa Friedman’s taken to her Financial Times blog to let the world in on a very big secret.  At least one person has already been offered John Galliano’s job at the top of Dior, and it’s one name that’s gone relatively unmentioned since the house imploded in March: Azzedine Alaïa. Friedman says the house offered Alaïa the top position despite his vocal opposition to everything a house like Dior does to the speed of the fashion cycle.  The designer confirms that he turned them down and told Friedman, “The story of what happened with John was a sad story…and he didn’t want to be part of the next chapter.” The question of who’ll replace John Galliano is the only one anyone in fashion is interested in these days and the same names—Riccardo Tisci, Haider Ackermann, maybe Sarah Burton—are thrown around on a daily basis.  Like Friedman says, choosing Alaïa first indicates the house of Dior, and CEO Sidney Toledano, is thinking outside the box. So who will it be?  There’s a good chance we won’t know until September—and if it’s Alaïa they wanted, whoever it is will have to live up to doubly huge expectations.

    Who: Kate Bosworth

What: At the Los Angeles Film Festival premiere of L!fe Happens at the Regal Cinema

Wear: Dress by Richard Nicoll, Chloe heels, Prada bag, and Jewelry by JewelMint

The 28-year-old actress looked radiant in a hot pink frock by Richard Nicoll and strappy nude heels by Chloe. As usual, Kate appeared effortlessly chic with messy waves and minimal makeup and accessorized with a Prada bag and jewelry from her own line, JewelMint. The actress appeared alongside co-stars Rachel Bilson Jason Biggs for the movies debut at the Los Angeles Film Festival on Saturday. The stylish actress and former Calvin Klein model continues to captivate fans with her flawless (and always trendy) ensembles. When she’s off the red carpet, she’s seemed to master the casual “festival style” look time and time again. Both easy going and edgy at the same time (with a hint of vintage) Kate’s unique style is serious perfection. We have major wardrobe envy when it comes to Kate. Oh, and not to mention she’s drop dead gorgeous!

Pantone, the world’s renowned expert on color, chose honeysuckle as the color of the year for 2011. What does this mean? Well, it means we’re seeing that electric reddish pink everywhere. Especially in fashion. So it was high time we found the best honeysuckle-colored products out there, and we were more than up for the challenge.

    Who: Cameron Diaz

What: The Bad Teacher premiere at the Ziegfeld Theatre in NYC on June 20

Wear: Chanel dress , Cartier jewelry, Casadei pumps

Bad Teacher’s right as Cameron Diaz flaunted killer legs with an up-to-there dress and pointed-toe heels at the the premiere of her new film last night. The 38-year-old chose a black and white knit minidress from Chanel’s spring 2011 collection and completed the outfit by adding flawless touches of gold—a cuff, earrings, and necklace from Cartier—as well as her favorite pointy Casadei black pumps. In the comedy, Diaz plays a crass teacher alongside ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake. For how fierce she looked at the premiere, we can’t wait to see the moves she whips out on the big screen.

The latest high-end designer has been announced for the fashion giant H&M. This morning the Swedish retailer announced they’ve chosen to do their autumn designer collaboration with the one-and-only Versace. The fast-fashion chain hopes it will raise their profile on the investors catwalk. Previous high-end designers have included Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Lanvin, Jimmy Choo, Roberto Cavalli, and Sonia Rykiel, among others. The 300-piece collection will hit stores November 19th, which they hope will give a much needed revenue boost ahead of the key Christmas selling period. Donatella wore this studded leather dress from the line (above) at the men’s show in Milan last night. If the rest of the line is anything like this little number, our expectations are sky high right about now. H&M is hoping to raise the bar in terms of their high-end fashion abilities, which can only be expected from a fashion name like Donatella Versace. We can’t wait to see what’s in store…literally.

The ballerina bun:  It may be an extension of this year’s ladylike trend or a continuation of ‘The Black Swan Effect,’ either way its shaping up to be this summer’s chignon of choice. We’re just half way through June and already it’s been spotted atop the heads of Chloë Sevigny, Emily DiDonato, Kirsten Dunst and Kate Bosworth (and of course, a possessed Portman).
