My name is Kiera, I am 20 and I am a proud woman of color! I'm from England, but have Jamaican heritage. My grandparents lived in Jamaica all my life until my grandfather became ill and had to come over to England. My username is to celebrate my heritage and show how proud I am of it.
Tell us about your Stardoll Journey!
I discovered Stardoll in 2007 when I was eight years old, and I saw an advertisement on the TV. The ad just spoke to me and I knew I'd be hooked. I love fashion and to stay on trend. I created my first account called MissJamaica0123.
Unfortunately, I lost my first account as I didn't follow the Stardoll rules and I gave out my password for a makeover. I learned the hard way and had to make my current account in 2012. I was so devastated. Stardoll is my guilty pleasure and has helped me a lot with my confidence as I am very shy in real life and have low self esteem. Stardoll has improved over the years. I've played on Stardoll throughout my childhood and current life.Tell us more about your background and cultural interests!
In Jamaica, the language is Jamaican Patios, this is an English-based Creole language with West African influences.
The Easter time is when Jamaica Carnival takes place in Kingston, Ocho Rios, and Montego Bay. Jamaica Carnival is a true representation of the food and the culture. In England, Carnival is celebrated in different towns during the summertime.
Reggae is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s. I really enjoy listening to it. It is good to sometimes hear samples in current songs, but I do prefer originals.
Jamaica is a beautiful country with delicious foods one of my favorites being the national dish Ackee and Saltfish! Most of the dishes are cooked with scotch bonnet peppers. I enjoy cooking these meals at home: fried fish, patties, curried goat, mutton and making patties. In July, I was able to visit Jamaica and see relatives and friends which I haven't seen for over 10 years -- it was amazing. The weather, the views, just everything!!! Some good tourist points for anyone who visits are: Dunns River Falls, Mystic Mountain, Dolphin Cove, and Yaaman adventure park.
On the 19th of July, 1962, the Parliament of the United Kingdom passed the Jamaica Independence Act, granting independence as of the 6th of August with The Queen as Head of State. On that day, the Union Jack was ceremonially lowered and replaced by the Jamaican flag throughout the country.
Words of Wisdom:
My favorite quote is "Beauty isn't about having a pretty face, It's about having a pretty mind, pretty heart, and pretty soul." I think it is a very powerful quote. This is my favorite as it's a quote I truly believe in and sometimes when I'm not feeling my best about myself I think of this.
