Though Sarah Burton’s not really allowed to discuss the wedding dress she made for Catherine Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, she did let one very telling detail slip in New York last night. At Saks for a customer meet and greet, Burton told one curious fan that “the collaboration between her and Kate was 50-50.” Those numbers grant Middleton more say than anyone expected and suggest that Burton spent much more time with the bride than we thought. She also said that “the princess was one of the most lovely women she has ever met and she was really low maintenance.” We doubt Burton said ‘Princess’ since she seems to be quite schooled in such things—but we do believe she left it at that. At Monday’s press preview for the Met’s McQueen exhibition she was equally tight lipped, even when it came to her late boss. Now that she’s finished her rounds, we think it’s high time Burton took a vacation!
