My Skin Story

81個月之前

Hello, Dolls!

Clear skin has been a goal in my life for a long time.

Growing up, my skin started breaking out around the age of 12. The first time I noticed it, I panicked. I didn't have any makeup at that age, so I 'borrowed' some of my mother's concealer and wore one dot of it on my face, blending to the best of my ability with my fingers.

Nearly six years later, I have had a love-hate relationship with my skin. I would find that at the start of the year in summer, my skin would clear up from all the salt water but then would then breakout as summer ended. A few years ago, my skin would start turning from the shiny, oily skin I knew to a much dryer skin which I didn't know how to deal with.

I bought product after product, trying to cater for my skin and keep it breakout-free. Special makeup, face masks, cleansers, moisturizers. Especially as I grew older, I noticed a lot of my friends' skin had begun to clear up - and I was desperate for mine to do so also - but I felt uncomfortable leaving the house without makeup on.

It has taken many years, many products and a lot of trial and error. But in the end, I have realized skincare isn't about clearing your skin completely - I still get hormonal breakouts which I can't control. It's about creating healthy skin. Breakouts, oiliness, redness - it's a normal reality. The one thing you can do is respond to your skin; see what works, what doesn't. What makes your skin look and feel healthy should always be the priority.

My skin isn't perfect, but whose is? You can't change your skin - but you can change your attitude towards it.

Love Lauren xox
