No surprise here: Singer-songwriter/actress/DJ Solange Knowles has been bursting all over the fashion scene. Last month, Solange showed up to Trident’s “See What Unfolds” performance in Times Square wearing a colorful Roberto Cavalli spring 2012 satin blazer over a simple black top and shorts with Pierre Hardy plastic strap sandals and a CC Skye Niki clutch. - A still from "What's Up?" At yesterday’s Fenton presentation there was a slight mix-up. Though Dana Lorenz’s models were actually wearing cream and white looks sourced from vintage stores, one editor thought Wren’s Melissa Coker had provided the clothes. A collaboration between the two was wishful thinking—that will actually come true tomorrow night when they debut a film they made in collaboration with Lula‘s Leith Clark and director Gia Coppola. “What’s Up?” follows a young girl over the course of a lazy LA day. Click through to watch the trailer, and check back Monday for the whole thing! Click here to see all the spring shows!

Fashion week starts in 14 days—assuming New York City survives Irene—and after scouring the official calendar more than one out of the ordinary event caught our eye.
Zac Posen
Almost two years ago Posen decided to move his collection runway show to Paris. He said the Parisians, “understand my clothes,” and stuck it out for three seasons. Meanwhile, he showed his newly launched Z Spoke collection here in New York City, and opened his first store in the Meatpacking District. This season, he’s bringing the collection back to New York and showing at Avery Hall in Lincoln Center on September 11th.
Karen Elson
The model, who’s giant Tanqueray billboards have stopped us dead in our tracks twice this week, will celebrate her collection for Nine West with a concert at Beauty & Essex—so many things we never thought we’d see/say in one sentence!
St. John
The latest in a string of news from the ladylike brand is a presentation during New York Fashion Week. They’re still riding high off their well received fall campaign, starring Kate Winslet, and if the starlet shows up at their 5th Avenue presentation it’ll be quite a coup.
Barneys
If you haven’t yet read Amy LaRocca’s New York Magazine story on Barneys’ regime change, do so this weekend. Then get excited for the not one, but two parties the store is set to host during Fashion Week, including one in honor of Lisa Immordino Vreeland’s new book, Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel.
Helmut Lang
Now that Theyskens’ Theory has become one of the hottest tickets of the week, the Theory group is ready to champion Helmut Lang by showing their spring collection on Manhattan’s west side.

- The Fall 2011 Haute Couture collections marked a return to monochrome. Black and white looks ruled the runway, but that doesn’t mean the styles were boring or basic. Last season, designers avoided this fate by jazzing monochromes up with splashes of bright neon accessories. This time around, designers amped up the glam factor by dousing the looks in all-over shimmer that glistened and gleaned as models strutted beneath the bright lights of the runway. Chanel, Stéphane Rolland, & Elie Saab, photos: Imaxtree In the Chanel collection, Karl Lagerfeld presented a half-structured, half-flowy ivory creation that was all sparkle. Stéphane Rolland, the Parisian fashion superstar, presented a just-as-shiny see-though, long-sleeved white dress that looked as if black, sparkly ink spilled and was just beginning to spread upward. Finally, Elie Saab embellished a short-sleeved gown with reflective sequins. Christophe Josse, Giambattista Valli & Jean Paul Gaultier, Photos: Imaxtree While designers went sheer with the glimmering white styles, the black creations were opaque and sexy. Christophe Josse‘s off-the-shoulder gown was born for the red carpet- we’d be happy to see it on any curvy star. Giambattista Valli went for a shorter hemline and white sleeves with his sparkly, textured party dress, and Jean Paul Gaultier topped off a tattered-hemmed sequined stunner with a black tuxedo coat for a seductive masculine look.
