Fashion Revolution

Soon after World War 1, the 'roaring' 1920's emerged a real revolution; women got the vote, and were increasingly entering the workforce thanks to their new found freedom. In this era, the role of both men and women changed significantly, but let's talk about the fashion.
One feature of this decade was coordinating accersories and outfits to obtain a elegant and classy look. Hats, jewellery, gloves, dresses, and stockings all came together in harmony for a synchronised look.
It is important to note some key changes in the way women dressed. For instance, dresses were made from lighter, more colourful fabrics, with softer textures. And of course, the hemline rose to just below the knee.
Furthermore, corsets were smaller and more flexible, and not only was this more comfortable, but it gave designers more freedom of expression.
And what about hair? The signature bob and finger wave was worn by the stylish "flapper girls" in the US and quickly became popular in Europe too. This signature hairstyle was worn with a straight loose silhouette.
Finally, in the 1920s there was a dance. That dance was the Charleston. A popular dance featuring jazz music and modified rhythms, involving swinging arms and super-fast foot work! Yes, the hemline rose to just below the knee, so it could be seen when dancing the Charleston!
