You Are a Marvel

il y a 80 mois

Go to the nearest mirror and get really close. Look at your eyes. Look at how your pupils and your irises are perfectly circular. Look at the intricate colors, how the light reflects off your eyes, the tiny movements of your eyelids.

Find some veins on your body, maybe on your arms or legs. Are they blue? Purple? Green? Think about it - they're filled with blood taking oxygen and vital nutrients all around your body to keep you alive. You don't have to think about being alive. Your body is working on it for you.

Clap your hands. Your brain sent thousands of signals down your arms to coordinate your hands meeting, and then it interpreted the sound waves from that action as a clapping sound. This all happened in what, half a second?

Read these words. Say them out loud. You have learned to see lines and curves in specific patterns and make sense out of them, to take meaning from them. You like and understand some patterns better than others.

Listen to your favorite song, one that you memorized a long time ago. Be conscious of all the memories that come to mind, the way you're thinking of the lyrics and music before you actually hear them. You know so much.

You are a marvel.

(I know this is kind of a random, rambling post. I've felt kind of down about my body lately, and I know a lot of people in the same boat. I don't mean to exclude anyone who may have disabilities and some of these points might not apply to them, but in general, the human body is crazy-amazing for being able to sustain itself at all.)

Til next time!
