How To Not Be Insecure

il y a 112 mois

Don't be fooled by the heading, guys. It is a metaphor. Insecurity is inevitable and we just have to learn to deal with it.

There are two types of people: Those who are openly insecure, and Those who are privately insecure.

The Openly Insecure people try to stay in the shadows, they try to stay out of people's way, they avoid pictures and they don't really put themselves out there on social media. And the times when they do try to include themselves in group videos and pictures, they think that they stick out like a sore thumb or, as I like to call myself sometimes, a potato.

The Privately Insecure people are, well, privately insecure. You would never guess they are insecure. You look at them and you think, "Wow, he/she is gorgeous!", and you assume that they are comfortable in their skin. But alas, you're wrong. While you're thinking about how beautiful their eyes are, they are wondering why their eyes are so large; while you are admiring their thick, curly hair, they are stressing over how hard it is to maintain; while you are jealous of their "perfect" complexion, they are wishing that they were a bit darker, or a bit lighter.

I would say that I'm a little bit of both. I love to dress in trendy clothes and I walk around with a smile on my face, but really, I am terrified at how people are judging me. I am insecure about many things: my nose, my complexion, even my hair sometimes. And when I am with my friends, I do feel like a potato sometimes. But I don't let my insecurities get the best of me.

And you shouldn't either. Be yourself, whether you are shy or outgoing.

There is no way to not be insecure. But there is a way to love yourself.
