Styling a Statement

92 kuukautta sitten

In most of my blogs, I almost never fail to drop the word statement piece. To me, a statement piece of clothing is one which speaks a million words by itself! That being said, they do actually need to be styled- except it can be really hard. I love buying these out-there pieces, but they just seem to accumulate in my closet so... I thought I'd style a few.

The first outfit (on the left) contains the colorful 'Carnival Fringe Piece' which I could never style. I usually don't believe in toning a piece down, but the black really brings attention to the colors on the chest. The second outfit contains the Chanel 'Ruffed Sleeve Bomber' which has been glaring at me since I bought it. I both love it and hate it! The only way I could style it with justice was to pick out the subtle red colour with pink. Styling it with white would work, but I love the way the colours clash and compliment.

Outfit three, with the Dolce & Gabbana 'Inspired Pomadoro Dress' is beautiful but the most awkward shape. The flared shoulders make it hard to put a jacket/overthrow on (otherwise it sticks out) and the box-like way it sits on the doll makes it hard to put belts or skirts over. Basically, what I did was accessorize mainly the legs and put some more lace at the bottom to elongate the look. Outfit four, like Outfit 3 has a bit of odd shape. This one really just needed a little black dress and some tights.

How many pieces are you scared to style? Maybe you'll find they're not too hard to style after all...
