Styling Your Pixie Haircut

hace 162 meses

A pixie haircut is a pleasant idea, especially during summer, but it’s a bold decision to make that requires commitment (at least a couple years until your hair to grow back). Stylish celebs like Halle Berry, Victoria Beckham, Natalie Portman, Hilary Swank, Ginnifer Goodwin, and recently Kate Winslet have all rocked the look. But we prefer garnering inspiration from the girls next door of Hollywood—Emma Watson, Evan Rachel Wood, Michelle Williams, and Ashlee Simpson—for that extra encouragement to try out the daring do. Emma wowed the crowd at the NYC premiere of the final Harry Potter film with her slicked-back pixie style. We’ll show you this look, plus other great ways to style your own pixie cut if you decide to make the move. Lucky for you, styling a pixie takes hardly any time at all! (And if you’re not quite daring enough to take the plunge and chop off your hair, take a look at these other celeb-inspired summer haircuts and styles)

To get Emma’s slick pulled-back look, brush back your hair when it’s still wet and apply a gel from roots to ends, then simply let it air dry. We like L’Oreals Studio Line for a strong hold without the sticky feeling.

For a dramatic look like Evan Rachel Woods, apply a volumizing gel on damp hair like this one by Aveda.

Then use a round brush to blow dry completely until dry. Lastly, apply a holding spray like Garnier Fructis’ Style Volumizing Hairspray. This will provide extra hold, as well as protect hair from getting frizzy.

To achieve a simple yet elegant pixie style like Michele Williams’, try applying a lifting volumizer like this one by MOP, and use a round brush to blowout until hair is completely dry.

Get Ashlee Simpson’s rocker-chic look by applying a thermal serum and anti-frizz base like this one by John Frieda on dry hair, then use a straightener on the ends for the finishing touches.
